Shukla and Negin Earn BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week

OMAHA, Neb. – For the second time in three weeks, Creighton women's tennis senior Malvika Shukla and junior Valerie Negin have been named the BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, the league announced on Monday morning.
The dynamic duo is earning their second BIG EAST Double Team of the Week honors this season, while Shukla is claiming the honor for the fifth time in her Bluejay career.
The recognition comes as Shukla and Negin posted a perfect 2-0 record at the top doubles position, helping guide the Bluejays to a pair of sweeps over Oral Roberts and Kansas City last week.
The Shukla and Negin tandem posted a 6-2 win over Oral Roberts' Chara Grammatikaki and Arina Sorokina in a 4-0 win on Thursday, before clinching the doubles point with a 6-3 triumph over Kansas City's Amal Gati and Laura Monoz-Baroja in a 4-0 sweep of the Roos' on Friday afternoon.
The duo has now won eight consecutive doubles matches, improving to 9-1 at the top doubles spot this season.
Shukla, Negin and the rest of the Creighton women's tennis team will return to action on Thursday, April 4 for a match against South Dakota at 12:30 p.m. inside the Hanscom Tennis Center.
