Bluejay Baseball Begins Pivotal Week with a Pair Against #13 Coastal Carolina

Omaha, Neb. -- After playing four of the last five weeks away from home, including the last seven straight, Creighton Baseball welcomes the chances this week brings as the Bluejays host #13 Coastal Carolina on Tuesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 25.
Series History: Creighton Trails Coastal Carolina, 4-1
This will be the first regular season trip to Omaha for the Chanticleers. Coastal Carolina came to Omaha for the 2016 College World Series, going on to claim the championship.

Scouting the Bluejays
(2024: 28-9, 4-5 BIG EAST)
Creighton dropped its second consecutive weekend series off the season, falling in two of three games at Villanova. As a team the Bluejays are hitting .302, led individually by Nolan Sailors (.397), Nolan Clifford (.367) and Teddy Deters (.333). On the bump the Bluejays have a team ERA of 4.94, with 322 strikeouts in 320.1 innings.
Scouting the #13 Chanticleers
(2024: 27-12, 11-7 Sun Belth)
Coastal Carolina comes to Omaha ranked No 13. The Chanticleers boasted a 15-game win streak earlier this season, including a win over No. 8 Wake Forest (17-9 on March 12). Coastal Carolina also has victories over No. 15 North Carolina (5-4 on April 16) and two over No. 17 Louisiana (9-1 on April 19 & 12-10 on April 20). The Chanticleers come to Omaha having won four of five.
As a team CCU is hitting .302, led by Sam Antonacci (.408) and Blake Barthol (.355). On the bump the Chanticleers have a team ERA of 5.60 with 337 strikeouts in 349 innings.
Pivotal Week Both On and Off the Diamond
With five games this week, including a pair against #13 Coastal Carolina and three home games with Georgetown.
At 24-4 in non-conference play, the game with Coastal Carolina are the Bluejays best chance to climb back into at-large contention. While the series with Georgetown presents an opportunity to get right in
BIGÂ EAST action.
Off the diamond, the Bluejays host their annual military appreciation game on Saturday, April 27th at 6:00 PM. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to check out static displays from the 55th Air Wing, Omaha Police, Omaha Fire and America's Wall of Honor beginning at 4:00 PM.
Pregame festivities include parachuters, a flyover and limited quantities of commemorative t-shirts once the gates open.
