
Lanahan & Kuo Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton men's tennis senior Matthew Lanahan and sophomore Zachary Kuo have been named to the 2024 Academic All-District® Men's Tennis teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). This is the second straight season that Lanahan has landed on the Academic All-District team, while Kuo is being named for the first time in his young career.
The 2024 Academic All District ® Men's Tennis Team, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for the combined performances on the courts and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America ® program separately recognizes tennis honorees in four divisions. NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division II and NAIA. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. Earning his second CSC Academic All-District honor, Lanahan graduated with a bachelor's degree in finance and technology this spring with a 3.97 GPA. A three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete award winner, Alvarez helped guide the Bluejays to a 13-9 overall record, while teaming up with Alejandro Gandini to become the first doubles team in program history to earn an ITA National Ranking after being the first duo to qualify for the ITA Fall National Championships. The Chula Vista, Calif. native owned eight wins at the top two singles positions, while combining for nine doubles wins at the No. 1 doubles spot.
Excelling in the classroom and on the court, Kuo boasted a 3.73 cumulative GPA while majoring in finance and technology. On the court, Kuo wrapped up the 2024 season with 18 combined wins, including nine at the No. 2 and No. 3 single positions. The sophomore also combined for nine wins at the No. 2 doubles position, while teaming up with seniors Shin Inoue and Zack Maline.

Academic standing:
- Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
- Student-athletes must be enrolled at their institution at the time of nomination either as undergraduates or graduate students. Only the school at which an athlete competed in the current academic year can nominate that player.
- Student-athletes who have graduated from their own institution during the current academic year and are not competing in athletics at another institution at the time of nomination are eligible.
- An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
- A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA.
- The cumulative grade point average may not be rounded up to 3.50.
NEW: Athletic Eligibility
- M/W Tennis: Eligible nominees need to be in the lineup for 70% of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores.
