
Women’s Tennis Quartet Earns CSC Academic All-District Recognition

OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton women's tennis seniors Malvika Shukla and Bianca Rademacher, as well as junior Valerie Negin and sophomore Annika Elvestrom each earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday, May 14.
This year marks the second CSC Academic All-District honor for both Shukla and Negin, while Rademacher and Elvestrom are each receiving their first recognition on the Academic All-District Team.
The Bluejays' four honorees are tied for the most ever by the Creighton women's tennis team in a single season, while both Shukla and Negin advanced and will be listed on the CSC Academic All-America Ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late May.
The teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
Shukla wrapped up her four-year career owning a 3.98 cumulative GPA while studying exercise science. A seven-time member of the Creighton honor roll, Shukla has also earned an ITA Scholar-Athlete award and was named to the BIG EAST all-academic team three times in her career.
On the court, Shukla closed out the 2024 season by earning Unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST honors. Playing at the No. 1 singles for the second consecutive season, Shukla earned a team-high 16 singles wins, finishing her career at Creighton ranked in the top-5 in program history with 68 career singles victories. Shukla also teamed up to earn two BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week honors and 16 additional victories with Negin at the No. 1 doubles position. Combined with the 41 doubles wins over her first three years as a Bluejay, Shukla closed out her collegiate career ranked ninth in school history with 57 career doubles wins.
Earning her second CSC Academic All-District honor, Negin owns a 3.78 GPA while majoring in Business Analytics. She is a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and a two-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team honoree. Playing primarily at the No. 2 singles spot on the court, the Centennial, Colo. native, posted 10 singles wins, while combining for 16 additional wins at the top doubles position with Shukla this season.
Claiming her first CSC Academic All-District honor, Elvestrom boasts a 3.98 GPA in accounting. An ITA Scholar-Athlete and BIG EAST All-Academic Team recipient, Elvestrom was a force on the court for the Bluejays this season. The Minnesota native racked up a combined 23 victories, including a team-best 14 victories across the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions. She also combined for nine doubles wins this year at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions.
In her second season with the Bluejays, Rademacher owns a 3.84 cumulative GPA while studying English. A three-time member of the Creighton honor roll, Rademacher has earned an ITA Scholar-Athlete award twice and was named to the BIG EAST all-academic team once. On the court, Rademacher made the most out of her time on the court, posting a 9-1 record in singles play while finishing the season with an eight-match winning streak. She also combined for seven doubles wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions.

Academic standing:
- Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
- Student-athletes must be enrolled at their institution at the time of nomination either as undergraduates or graduate students. Only the school at which an athlete competed in the current academic year can nominate that player.
- Student-athletes who have graduated from their own institution during the current academic year and are not competing in athletics at another institution at the time of nomination are eligible.
- An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
- A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA.
- The cumulative grade point average may not be rounded up to 3.50.

- M/W Tennis: Eligible nominees need to be in the lineup for 70% of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores.
