Baseball Closes Out 2024 with BIG EAST Series Against Seton Hall

Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Baseball will wrap up its 2024 season with a three-game home series against Seton Hall over the weekend. The series begins on Thursday with a nationally televised game on FS1. Friday will be the annual Chris Gradoville game, while Saturday is the rescheduled Salute to Service game. In addition the Bluejays will honor 11 seniors following the game on Saturday.

Scouting the Bluejays (2024: 33-16, 5-12 BIG EAST)
After completing an undefeated midweek schedule (12-0) with the 2-1 victory over Omaha on Tuesday, Creighton moved to 28-4 during the non-conference schedule.
As a team the Bluejays are hitting .291, led individually by Nolan Sailors (.360), Nolan Clifford (.340), Tate Gillen (.319) and Teddy Deters (.306). On the bump the Bluejays have a team ERA of 5.12, with 414 strikeouts.
Scouting the Pirates (2024: 23-28, 6-12 BIG EAST)
The Pirates have struggled during the 2024 season, yet have earned at least one game in every BIG EAST series except against Villanova.

As the regular season comes to a close over the weekend, Creighton moved to 12-0 in midweek contests with its 2-1 victory over Omaha on May 14. The Bluejays also added to its NCAA leading non-conference victory total, now at 28. The Bluejays conclude non-conference action at 28-4. The closest team to Creighton is Texas A&M at 25-0.
Bluejays Complete Sweep of Mavericks and Huskers
For just the second time in a season Creighton swept six games from its in-state rivals, besting the Mavericks in three one-run contests and taking three from Nebraska. The only other time the Bluejays won six meetings in one season came in 2018.
First Win Under Two Runs
Tuesday's 2-1 win over Omaha marked the first time during the 2024 season that the Bluejays earned a victory with two or less runs scored. Creighton moved to 1-6 on the year in such contests.
Burke Earned First Save as a Bluejay
For the first time during the 2024 season junior transfer Jimmy Burke was called upon in a late inning situation, coming into a bases loaded one out jam in the ninth inning against Omaha on May 14. The Illinois native calmly struck out Noah Griese and Jackson Trout, the Mavericks four and five hitters, to earn his first save and keep Creighton undefeated against Omaha and Nebraska
Bluejays to Honor 11 Seniors Following Saturday's Contest
The Bluejays will honor 11 seniors following the final game of the season on Saturday. The players expected to play their final contest as a Bluejays are Colby Canales (#28), Dominic Cancellieri (#55), Nolan Clifford (#24), Jack Grace (#34), Daniel Hammond (#45), Cade Lommel (#50), Jack Peluso (#44), Casey Trapp (#39), Sam Vomhof (#5) and manager Colton Smith.

In addition to senior day, two other special events will happen over the weekend.
