Men's Soccer Jesuit Invitational Recap
9/2/2024 4:49:00 PM | Men's Soccer
Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Men's Soccer wrapped up the 2024 Jesuit Invitational with a 1-0-1 record, but the more important record was that the three teams each gathered on Friday, August 30 to intermingle and serve at four unique locations to give back to the community.
On Friday, August 30, players from the three teams served at Completely Kids, The Jesuit Academy, the Simple Foundation, and Football for the World. All these metro-area nonprofits serve Omaha youth and share the simple goal of making the community a better place. Photo Gallery

After their combined day of service, the three teams came together for a celebration dinner. Recently ordained Jesuit priest Fr. Tim Breen, S.J., provided the invocation and led a brief program. Â
Fr. Breen was a student and Jesuit novice at the University of San Francisco in 2011, went on to play soccer and complete his undergraduate work at Loyola University Chicago. Breen went on to work at Creighton during his regency (a multi-year apostolic missioning to work in a Jesuit-run facility), he served the Creighton Men's and Women's Soccer staffs from 2016-2019.Â
Drawing upon the history of the Jesuit Invitational (a tournament with its roots in 1997 when Loyola-Chicago hosted Fordham, Detroit-Mercy, and Saint Joseph), members of the Omaha community worked to raise the funding for the event, then collaborated with the coaches of each squad.
The hope is the Jesuit Invitational will continue every other year, rotating between Creighton and Loyola Chicago.
On the pitch the Bluejays battled Loyola Chicago to a 1-1 draw on Thursday, August 29 and defeated San Francisco 4-2 on Sunday, September 1.
