Sophomores Lead Women's Golf at Ozarks National Invitational

Katharine Marshall and Annie Dawson lead the way
HOLLISTER, Mo. -- A great start by sophomore Katharine Marshall and a stellar finish from classmate Annie Dawson helped the Creighton Women's Golf team to an 11th place finish on Wednesday at the Ozarks National Invitational in Hollister, Mo.
Marshall owned the lead after day one following a round of 73 on Monday. She followed that with rounds of 84 and 80 to tie for 23rd place with a 237 total.
Dawson started with loops of 83 and 82 before an even-par 72 in the final round, which was tied for the third-best round in the field on Wednesday. Dawson's season-low round included four birdies in a stretch of five holes on the front nine and helped the sophomore finish in a tie for 23rd place.
Freshman Julia Karmazin tied for 39th place following rounds of 78, 81 and 82 for a 241 total.
Morgan Becker (85-78-82) tied for 57th place with a 245 total, and and Karsen Morrison (83-85-78) was one shot back to tie for 60th.
Freshman Kinsley Smith (87-93-87=267) tied for 75th place while competing as an individual.
South Dakota State (304-302-291=897) won the 13-team event by seven shots over South Dakota (317-295-292=904), with Creighton in 11th after rounds of 317, 325 and 312. South Dakota State's Piper Stubbs (74-77-69=220) posted a three-shot win over UTEP's Luciana Origel (76-73-74=223) and UNI's Ann Jensen (74-77-72=223) to earn medalist honors in the 78-player field on the Ozarks National course that measured 6,047 yards on its Par 72 layout.
The Bluejays are back in action on April 7-8 at Stampede at the Creek, which takes place at The Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn.
