Bluejays not Blue Jays

Creighton's mascot is the Bluejays or Bluejay, one word. Conversely the MLB Toronto team is the Blue Jays.

Scouting Creighton (22-23, 12-9 BIG EAST)

Surging at the right time, Creighton enters the final week of the regular season with a 22-23 overall record.

The Bluejays currently sit in tie for fourth in the BIG EAST with an 12-9 league record and are coming off their third BIG EAST series sweep of the season at DePaul.

Offensively, Creighton ranks fourth in the BIG EAST with a .298 batting average with 57 doubles, 11 triples, 40 home runs and 234 RBI, while scoring 5.80 runs per contest.

The Bluejays are led offensively by senior Sydra Seville, who is hitting an impressive .388 on a team-high 64 hits, including seven doubles, two triples and two home runs, while scoring a team-best 39 runs and driving in 21 RBI.

Junior Lily West follows with a .340 batting average with 53 hits, including six doubles and four home runs while ranking second on the team with 36 RBI and 32 total runs scored. Sophomore Kaelan Schultz has provided a spark of power to the Bluejays lineup, owning a .326 average on nine home runs and four doubles.

Sophomore Ashten Pierson has come alive at the plate, boasting a .311 batting average on 37 hits, 13 walks and nine hit by pitches, while

junior Erika Perez owns a .288 average with a team-best eight doubles and six home runs with 28 runs driven in.

Providing much of the power in the middle of the lineup has been sophomore Sydney Potter, who has driven in a team-leading 48 RBI on five doubles and a team-best 10 home runs while hitting at a .294 average.

Senior Kenzie Schopfer has emerged as the Bluejays go-to pitcher as she owns a 4.49 ERA with 59 strikeouts in 99.2 innings of work. Sophomore Brooklyn Patchen leads the way with nine victories while owning a team-best 3.35 ERA and a team-high 78 strikeouts in 104.1 innings pitched this season.

Sophomore Brooke Shifflett has also been a reliable option, owning a 7-7 overall record and a 4.38 ERA with 54 punchouts in 68.2 innings of work, while freshman Abby Rusher has provided 33.1 innings of relief this spring, collecting a 5.46 ERA.

As a staff, the Bluejays rank second in the BIG EAST with a 4.09 ERA and 211 strikeouts in 306.0 innings this year.

Creighton returns six regular starters from last season's 36-22 squad that posted the programs first 35-win season since 2010 and finished runner-up in both the BIG EAST regular-season and tournament. The Bluejays were picked to finish fourth in the BIG EAST by the league coaches in 2025.

Head coach Krista Wood is in her third season with the Bluejays and holds a 588-394 career record, including an 80-76 mark at Creighton.

Scouting Kansas City (5-37)

Kansas City is 5-37 this season with wins over East Texas A&M, SIUE, North Dakota State and Western Illinois. The Roos have lost 18 of their last 19 contests, with their most recent victory coming on April 16 at Western Illinois.

Kansas City offensively is hitting just .235 as a team and averages 2.31 runs per game, while opponents are hitting .372 overall and scoring 8.17 runs scored per contest.

Sophomore Gianna Lickel paces Kansas City offensively with a .302 batting average on a team-high 26 hits, including three doubles. Junior Grace Batdorf follows closely behind, owning a .295 average on a team-best six doubles and three home runs, driving in a total of 11 runs.

In the circle, the Roos own an 8.32 ERA with 68 strikeouts in 239.2 innings of work as a staff.

Freshman Maddy Duvall paces the Kansas City pitching staff with a 6.91 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 51. 2 innings of work, while fellow classmate Riley Bebb has tossed a team-high 100.1 innings, posting a 7.72 ERA with 21 strikeouts.

Kansas City was picked to finish fifth in the Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll as head coach Kiki Stokes O'Connor is in her third season with the Roos.

Creighton and Kansas City have played a total of 58 games against each other, with Creighton holding a commanding 54-4 edge in the all-time series.

The Bluejays have won eight of the last 10 meetings but are coming off a 3-2 extra-innings loss to the Roos last season in Kansas City.

Creighton is a perfect 24-0 against the Roos at the CU Sports Complex, the best home record based on percentage against any Creighton opponent in program history.

Senior Sydra Seville owns 38 hits in BIG EAST play this season, a total that ranks second in the BIG EAST and is tied for third-most in a single season in league history.

Seville's 38 hits in league play are just five hits shy of Butler's Cate Lehner, who broke the BIG EAST single season hits record by collecting her 43rd BIG EAST hit of the season last weekend in a series against Seton Hall. The previous hits record was held by DePaul's Amber Patton, who collected 41 hits in BIG EAST play back in 2009.

The New Lenox, Ill. native is currently hitting .469 in BIG EAST play with 38 hits, including five doubles, two triples and a home run while scoring 23 total runs.

Dating back to last season, Seville has recorded at least one hit in 33 of the last 34 games against BIG EAST competition.

Seville Nears Single Season Hits Top 10

In her fourth season with the Creighton softball program, outfielder Sydra Seville has turned into one of the most prolific hitters to ever wear a Bluejay uniform.

Seville has recorded 64 hits this season, ranking fourth in the BIG EAST and just four hits shy of tying Stacey Frederick (2004) and Jody Ream (1989) for ninth on Creighton's single season hits list.

Additionally, Seville is just six hits away from becoming just the seventh Bluejay in program history to record at least 70 hits in a season.

Can't Stop Pierson From Stealing

Sophomore Ashten Pierson stole a career-high three bases, including stealing home, in the Bluejays 12-5 victory over DePaul on April 27.

Pierson's three stolen bags were tied for the second-most stolen bases in a single game in program history and the most since Danai Martin stole three bags against North Dakota on March 12, 2011.

After drawing a walk in the top of the first inning against DePaul on Sunday, Pierson stole second and advanced to third on a foul out from Lily West, before stealing home for the Bluejays first run of the game.

With the steal of home, Pierson became the first Bluejay to steal home in a game since Ella Dalton stole home against South Dakota on April 25, 2023.

Overall, Pierson has recorded 14 stolen bases this season and is now three shy of entering the Bluejays single season stolen base top list.

Sophomore Ashten Pierson has been hit by a pitch a team-best nine times this season, moving into a tie for sixth on Creighton's single season hit-by-pitch record list.

The Wamego, Kan. native currently ranks tied for eighth in the BIG EAST and is now one hit by pitch away from tying Jen Daro and Michelle Graner for third on all-time single season hit-by-pitch record list.

Pierson's nine hit by pitches this season are the most by a Bluejay since Alyssa Gappa was hit by a pitch nine times in 2023.

In total, Pierson has been hit by a pitch 14 times in her career and currently sits two hit-by-pitches away from moving into Creighton's top-10 for career hit by pitches.

Bring the BIG EAST Broom

With a series sweep of DePaul this past weekend, Creighton has now completed three BIG EAST series sweeps in the same season for the first time since joining the league in 2014.

This also marks the first time since 2012 that Creighton has swept three conference series in the same season. The last time CU sweep four league series in the same season was 2008 when the Jays went 21-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Last weekend's series sweep of DePaul marked just the 12th series sweep for the Bluejays since joining the BIG EAST in 2014.

Creighton's sweep of Georgetown on April 4-6 was its second straight series sweep of the Hoyas and the first series win in Washington, D.C. since 2017, while the series sweep of Butler was its first over the Bulldogs since joining the league.

Krista vs. The BIG EAST

Throughout her career, head coach Krista Wood's teams played some of their best softball against BIG EAST competition.

Closing out her third season with the Bluejays, Wood's currently owns a 37-37 record in the BIG EAST with at least one victory over every team in the league.

In her eight seasons with South Dakota State, Wood's compiled a 21-5 overall record against the BIG EAST, including a 17-1 mark in her final six seasons that featured 11 straight victories.

Despite keeping it close, the Bluejays are just 6-12 in close games, which including a 3-10 record in one-run contests.

West Hitting Way Into Top-10

Closing out her junior season, Lily West is continuing her climb up the Bluejay ranks in career batting average.

Nearing the end of her junior season, West currently ranks tied for seventh all-time with a .333 career batting average on 171 career hits. The Choctaw, Okla. native ranks second on the team with a .340 batting average on 53 total hits this season.

The standout junior currently owns 171 hits in her Bluejay career and recently became just the seventh Bluejay all-time to record at least 50 hits in three separate seasons.

West ended her sophomore season with 118 career hits, a total that ranked second-most for a career through two seasons in program history.

Bluejay Thieves

Creighton has recorded 57 stolen bases this season, a total that currently ranking fourth in the BIG EAST behind only Butler (82), St. John's (74) and UConn (66).

The Bluejays 57 stolen bases are the most in a single season since joining the BIG EAST in 2014 and the most since swiping 82 bags in 2005.

CU stole just eight total bases in their first 10 games of the season, but have been more aggressive on the base paths, collecting 49 stolen bags in the last 35 games.

By comparison, the Bluejays stole a total of 24 bases in 58 total games last season. Prior to this season the Bluejays had only recorded more than 30 stolen bases in three seasons since joining the BIG EAST in 2014.

The Jays collected a season-high seven stolen bases against UC Santa Barbara on March 2. The Bluejays seven steals were two shy of the school record and were tied for the second-most in a single game in program history and the most since also collecting seven stolen bases against Bradley on March 31, 2001.

Small-Ball Bluejays

Creighton has prided itself as building triple-threat players at the plate, perfecting the ability to lay down a bunt at any given time.

This season, Creighton is hitting .639 (23-of-36) with 19 sacrifices in bunting opportunities. Senior Sydra Seville is 11-of-12 (.917 BA) with two sacrifice bunts this season, while sophomore Ashten Pierson has converted 8-of-17 (.471) of her bunt attempts while recorded a team-high seven sacrifices.

Last season, the Bluejays converted 31 sacrifice bunts, led by seven from Pierson.

Senior outfielder Sydra Seville is having a career season at the plate, ranking seventh in the BIG EAST with a .388 batting average, while ranking fourth in the league with a team-best 64 hits this season.

The standout junior ranks tied for fourth in the BIG EAST with two triples, while ranking fourth in the league with 17 stolen bases. In addition, Seville has more than doubled her RBI total with 21 runs driven in this season.

The latest NCAA Softball RPI, released through games on April 27, has Creighton with the fifth-best RPI in the BIG EAST.

Creighton has an RPI of 152, with a big conference opportunity against Seton Hall (123) to close out the regular season.

Creighton is 19-4 this year against teams with an RPI worse than 152, but 3-18 against teams in the top 150. The best RPI team that Creighton has beaten is No. 59 Connecticut.

Since the turn of the century, Creighton has had tremendous success when scoring five or more runs and the Bluejays have continued that success this spring.

Over the last 25 seasons, Creighton is 393-58 when scoring five or more runs. In the same time span Creighton is 245-429-3 when scoring four runs or fever.

Creighton is also 177-40 when scoring five or more runs in a game since joining the BIG EAST in 2014 and own an 18-4 record this season when scoring five or more runs.

Last spring, the Bluejays went an impressive 23-0 record when scoring at least five runs in a game. In those 23 contests, Creighton outscored their opponents, 192-66.

During that same time frame the Bluejays are 105-5 when scoring eight or more runs, which included a perfect 15-0 record in 2024. Prior to Creighton's 22-18 loss to Connecticut on March 28, Creighton had won 29 consecutive games when scoring eight or more runs.

Additionally, Creighton had won 36 straight games when scoring 10+ runs, before March 28th setback to the Huskies.

Double Trouble

Over the last two seasons Creighton has consistently been able to snag extra-bases, and that has been the case once again this season.

The Bluejays currently rank sixth in the BIG EAST with 57 doubles, trailing UConn (81), Seton Hall (77), Villanova (70) St. John's (69) and DePaul (61). Junior Erika Perez paces the Bluejays with eight doubles, while Sydney Potter and Sydra Seville follow closely behind with seven doubles each.

This spring the Bluejays have recorded a season-high five doubles twice, including five in CU's season-opening win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Feb. 7.

This marks the third straight season Creighton has recorded at least 50 doubles and is now six doubles shy of entering the Bluejays single season top 10 list.

CU has recorded 77 doubles each of the last two seasons, tying for the second most in a single season and falling two shy of the school record 79 hit during the 1993 season.

Overall, the 154 doubles hit over the last two years are the most doubles in a two-year span in program history.

Scoring BIG

Creighton has jumped out to early leads, but that hasn't always paid dividends as the Bluejays are 13-8 when scoring first and 9-8 when scoring in the first inning this season.

CU has manufactured some big scoring innings early on in contests, outscoring its opponents 72-53 in the first and second innings this season.

The Bluejays have scored four or more runs in a single inning 26 times this year, including a season-high six runs in an inning on 10 different occasions, including three times at Georgetown and three additional instances against Butler.

Keeping it Consistent

Part of CU's success this season can be attributed to knowing who will be starting on a game-by-game basis.

This season, Ashten Pierson (Shortstop), Lily West (catcher/DP), Sydra Seville (Right Field/Center field) and Sydney Potter (First base, Catcher, DP) have started all 45 game this season. Erika Perez has also started 41 of the 45 games at third base, while Ella Dalton has also earned the start in centerfield in 40 of the 43 games she has played in this season.

Additionally, head coach Krista Wood has used the same starting lineup in 11 of the last 14 games.

Sticky Situation

Below are some interesting facts when breaking down the CU lineup.

• Sydra Seville is hitting .479 (34-of-71) as CU's leadoff hitter and a blistering .438 (21-of-48) with runners in scoring position this season.

• In addition, Sydra Seville is hitting .400 (28-of-70) with runners on base and a .326 (14-of-43) with two-outs.

• Lily West hits .413 (38-of-92) with runners on base and .431 (28-of-65) when those runners are in scoring position, while hitting .500 (4-of-8) with the bases loaded.

• Additionally, Lily West hits .400 (44-of-110) when batting third in the lineup, but just .209 (9-of-43) when batting first or second.

• Avery Barnard is hitting .400 (12-of-30) with runners on and has upped that to .412 (7-of-17) with runners in scoring position.

• Sydney Potter is hitting .344 (21-of-61) with runners in scoring position and .500 (5-of-10) with the bases loaded, while driving in 24 runs with two outs.

• Forty-four of Sydney Potter's hits this season have come while she is either playing first base or when she is catching. She has only recorded one hit in 11 at-bats as CU's designated player.

• Erika Perez is hitting .556 (15-of-27) when leading off an innings.

Power Plays

Creighton has launched 40 home runs this year, 14 more than the team compiled all of last season. Of the 40 home runs CU has hit this season, 20 have been solo shots while six have been grand slams.

Creighton's six grand slams are the second-most in the BIG EAST this season, trailing only Villanova's seven, and are the most in a single season since at least 1999. CU's previous high was three grand slams in 2023.

The Bluejays have blasted two grand slams in the same game twice this season, including once last weekend in the series finale against Butler.

Dalton Slump Bustin

Junior Ella Dalton had entered the series against Butler in a bit of a hitting slump, batting .172 (5-of-29) over the previous 13 games.

Dalton has since broke through going 12-for-28 (.429) with three doubles, one triple, two home run, eight RBI and 12 runs scored, including going 6-for-8 (.750) with a double, home run, seven runs scored and five RBI in the Bluejays series sweep of Butler.

Overall, Dalton is now hitting .273 on 30 hits, with six doubles, three home runs, 23 runs scored and 15 walks.

50/50 Club

Senior Sydra Seville and junior Lily West pace the Bluejays in hits this season with 64 and 53 base hits respectfully.

This marks the third straight season and the 21st time in program history that two Bluejays have recorded at least 50 hits in the same season.

Additionally, West became just the seventh Bluejay in program history to record at least 50 hits in three seasons and the first since Renae Sinkler in 2010.

West Staying Durable

Junior catcher Lily West has been a fixture in the Bluejays starting lineup since stepping foot on campus in 2023 and is reaching uncharted territory as she has started in all 156 games of her Bluejay career.

Her 156 consecutive starts are the longest starting streak by a Bluejay since Madeline Vejvoda started the final 174 games in her Bluejay career from 2020- 2024.

West and Schultz Nearly Hit For Cycle

Junior Lily West nearly became the first Bluejay ever to hit for the cycle, finished April 9th midweek contest at Nebraska 3-for-4 with a single, triple and home run.

The standout catcher singled in the third and homered in the fifth, before capping off the game with a stand-up triple in the seventh.

Sophomore Kaelan Schultz then nearly completed the feature on April 26 at DePaul going 3-for-4 with a single, double and home run, while driving in four runs.

The Hastings, Neb. native blasted a three-run home run in the first, doubled in the fifth and lines a single in the sixth to cap off a 10-3 victory over the Blue Demons.

RBI Queens

Sophomores Sydney Potter and Kaelan Schultz as well as juniors Lily West and Erika Perez have delivered in a big way for the Bluejays this season.

The quartet has combined for 140 of the teams 234 RBI this season, while slugging 25 doubles and 29 of the teams 40 home runs this spring

Potter leads the team and ranks tied for second all-time with 48 RBI with a team-high 10 home runs, while West is not far behind with 36 RBI of her own. Perez and Schultz have each driven in 28 runs this season, while Perez owns a team-best eight doubles on the year. In total the foursome has combined for 32 of the teams 50 multi-RBI game this season.

Free Softball

Creighton has played six extra-inning games this season but have not had the best of luck as the Bluejays own a 2-4 mark in extra-inning contests.

Last Thursday, Creighton and St. John's went 12 scoreless innings before the Johnnies plated a run in the top of the 13th to escape with a 1-0 win.

The 13-inning pitcher's duel was the Bluejays longest game by innings since defeating Villanova, 6-4, in 16 innings back on April 5, 2014. Last Thursday's contest was also Creighton softball's longest start to a game without either team scoring a run since May 11, 1991, when Creighton defeated Utah, 1-0, in an NCAA record 31-inning contest.

The Bluejays only extra-inning wins this season came when Creighton erased a six-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh, before plating the game-winning run in the eighth against Connecticut on March 28. The Bluejays only other extra-inning win this season was a 4-3 8-inning win over Purdue Fort Wayne in the finale of the Kickin' Chicken Classic in Conway, S.C.

Sophomore Sydney Potter lifted the Bluejays to the victory over PFW, launching a two-run home run to straight away center in the bottom of the eighth inning, while Sydra Seville delivered the game-winner with an RBI single against UConn.

Potter's two-run walk-off blast was the Bluejays first walk-off home run since Emma Rosonke launched a three-run home run in a 9-1 run-rule victory over Abilene Christian on Feb. 13, 2022.

Overall, Creighton is 95-98-2 all-time in extra innings games, including a 19-16 mark since joining the BIG EAST in 2014.

Amongst the Bluejays extra-inning games is Creighton's NCAA record 31-inning contests against Utah on May 11, 1991, as well as the third longest game in NCAA History in the 25-inning affair against Utah just 21-minutes later on May 12, 1991.

Home Sweet Home

Creighton owns a 505-282-1 (.642) all-time record in home games, which includes a 371-230-1 (.617) record at home since moving into the CU Sports Complex in 1988.

Earlier this season, the Bluejays secured their 500th all-time win at home with an 9-6 win over former MVC rival Drake on March 11th.

Creighton finished last season with a 16-3 record at the home. The Bluejays 16 home wins were the most wins in the CU Sports Complex since the 2008 Bluejays finished the home schedule with a 19-2 overall record.

In addition, it was just the second time this century that Creighton had recorded 16 or more home wins in a single season.

Creighton At Home

Since joining the BIG EAST in 2014, the Bluejays own an 80-73 record at the Creighton Sports Complex.

The Bluejays are 6-6 this season, after taking one of three from St. John's last weekend. Through the first 12 home games, Creighton is hitting .326 with 15 doubles, 17 home runs, 86 RBI and 91 runs scored with 14 stolen bases.

Junior Ella Dalton leads the way offensively with a .484 batting average at home, while Sydra Seville and Lily West following closely behind, hitting .404 and .400 respectfully. Seville owns a team-best 19 hits at the CU Complex this season, while West has recorded 16 hits and six walks. Sophomore Sydney Potter has blasted a team-high five home runs and driven in 19 total runs on 10 hits at home this season.

CU Sports Complex Turns Into Launching Pad

Creighton has also produced some big hitters throughout its powerful lineup over the years and that trend has continued this season.

CU has blasted a total of 17 home runs this season at the Creighton Sports Complex, including five against Connecticut on March 28 and six in the Bluejays three-game series sweep of Butler. In total, there have been 33 home runs hits in 12 games at the Creighton Sports Complex this spring.

Last spring CU blasted a total of 24 home runs, with 16 of those coming from within the confines of the CU Sports Complex.

Sophomore Sydney Potter leads the way with five home runs at home this season, with Kaelan Schultz has recorded four homers, while Erika Perez and Hannah Poole have each added in two of her own.

Since joining the BIG EAST in 2014, the most home runs a Creighton team has hit during a single season at home is 25 (2018).

Driving in All The Runs

In Creighton's 19-5 run-rule victory over Butler on April 13, sophomore Sydney Potter was responsible for driving in seven of the Bluejays 19 runs.

The Runnels, Iowa native blasted a pair of home runs, including a grand slam, becoming the first Bluejays with multiple two-home run games in the same season since Kiara Mills in 2019.

Potter's seven RBI were tied for the second-most in a single game in program history and the most in a single game since Alexis Cantu drove in a school record eight runs against Wichita State on April 6, 2012.

Adding in five RBI in the series opener on Friday and one RBI on Saturday, Potter led the country with 13 total RBI during the week of April 7-13.

Creighton scored a season-high 19 runs on 12 hits and five walks, including a pair of grand slams against Butler on Sunday, April 13.

The Bluejays' 19 runs scored were tied for third-most in program history and the most in a single game since CU set a program record with 24 runs scored against Toledo on Feb. 8, 2020.

Just two weeks ago, the Bluejays scored 18 runs on 17 hits, blasting a season-high five home runs against Connecticut on March 28. The Huskies, however, pushed in 22 runs of their own to earn the victory.

The 40 combined runs between the Bluejays and Huskies were the most in any Creighton game in program history, and the highest-scoring game in the country this season.

Hit Parade

Creighton's 17 hits against Connecticut on March 28 marked a new season-high and were the most hits in a single game by the Bluejays since collecting 17 hits against Butler on April 20 of last season.

The Bluejays followed that up by collecting 16 hits, all singles, in a 13-0 run-rule victory over Georgetown on Sunday.

West & Schopfer Nabs Spot on BIG EAST Honor Roll

Junior Lily West and senior Kenzie Schopfer each claimed a spot on the weekly honor roll this week, following a sweep of Georgetown on April 4-6.

West earned a spot on the honor roll for the second consecutive week, leading Creighton to a 3-1 record last week. The standout junior hit a blistering .429 (6-of-14) with a pair of home runs and five runs scored while collecting 12 RBI and boasting a .857 slugging percentage. The Choctaw, Okla. native drove in at least three runs in all three games last weekend as the Bluejays outscored the Hoyas, 27-2.

Schopfer, meanwhile, led all BIG EAST pitchers last week with a 0.98 ERA, picking up a pair of shutout wins in three appearances. The Savanna, Mo. native held opponents to 12 hits and a .231 batting average while logging nine strikeouts in 14.1 innings of work.

Historic Comeback For the Ages

Creighton pulled off a comeback for the ages on Friday, March 28, scoring six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and another in the eighth to knock off the UConn, 7-6, in the series opener of a three-game set.

The victory matched Creighton's largest comeback in a win since 1994, having also overcome a 6-0 deficit with a nine-run seventh frame to defeat Weber State on Feb. 25, 2017 in Santa Clara, Calif.

Creighton picked up just its 39th victory since 1999 when the opposition scores six or more runs. The Jays are now 40-287 (.122) winning percentage) during the past 26 years when allowing six or more runs and 30-408-1 (.067) when trailing after six innings.

Creighton and Connecticut combined to blast 12 home runs, including three grand slams, while combining for 40 runs in the second game of the three-game series on March 29.

Creighton homered in each of the first five innings, with those five blasts tying for the third-most home runs in a single-game in program history.

The Bluejays five home runs were its most in a single game since also hitting five homers against Kansas City on March 15, 2023.

Connecticut also launched seven home runs of their own, including four in four straight at-bats from Kaitlyn Breslin, as she tied an NCAA single-game record for home runs in a single contest.

West Surpasses 150 Career Hit Plateau

Junior catcher Lily West reached the 150-hit plateau in the series opener against Connecticut on March 28.

The Choctaw, Okla. native delivered her 150th career hit in a big way, driving in the game tying runs with a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning of Creighton's 7-6 win over the Huskies.

West become the 17th Bluejay since 1999 to record 150 career hits. She has been consistent at the plate throughout her Bluejay career, hitting .333 with 171 career hits in 156 career games.

Senior Sydra Seville reached base safely in 21 straight games before having her streak snapped on March 22 in three at-bats against Seattle. The 21-game on-base streak was Creighton's longest streak since Ashley Cantu also reached base safely in 21 consecutive games in 2019.

The New Lenox, Ill. native also had an 18-game on-base streak snapped earlier this season, a streak that dated back to last season. Since 2010, Seville is the only Bluejay to record multiple 18-game on-base streaks.

The standout senior has reached base safely in 41 of the 45 games this season and in 56 of the Bluejays last 50 games dating back to April 19, 2024.

Seville Keeps Hitting

Senior Sydra Seville had her career-best 18 -game hitting streak snapped on Feb. 8 after recording the longest hit streak by a Bluejay since at least 1999 on her first career out of the park home run in an 10-2 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne.

The New Lenox, Ill. native hit a blistering .517 (30-of-58) with 30 hits, nine RBI, 12 runs scored and four stolen bases over her 18-games hitting streak, dating back to the end of last season, where Seville earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors and a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.

Seville then collected at least one hit in 11 straight contests from March 1 to March 21. During her second longest career hitting streak, she hit .500 (21-of-42), with eight multi-hit games.

In all, Seville has recorded a hit in 36 of the 45 games this season, boasting a team-best .388 average on a team-leading 64 hits, including seven doubles, two triples and two home runs.
