Bluejay Baseball Tames Mavericks With 19-3 Win

Omaha, Neb. -- The tandem of juniors Ben North and Teddy Deters combined to go 5-for-10 with 11 RBI and five runs scored in the Bluejays' 19-3 win over Omaha on Tuesday, May 13 in seven innings.
The win moved Creighton to 35-14 on the season, while Omaha fell to 19-27 overall.
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the second, Deters delivered an RBI single to left to knot the game at 1-1. Creighton went on to plate four in the frame, including an RBI single from Matt Scherrman.
Creighton added seven runs in the third, batting around, capped by a bases loaded bloop double from North.
Leading 11-1 as the game moved to the fourth. Omaha responded with a pair of runs, including a solo home run from Mason Gaines.
Still at 11-3 as the game moved to the sixth inning when Creighton plated eight runs on five hits. North delivered a two-run double to make it 15-3, then Deters closed the scoring with a grand slam. I
Jimmy Burke picked up the win (4-1), allowing one run on three hits in two innings, while Omaha's Isaac Cychosz took the loss (0-1) giving up three runs on four hits and two walks in 1.2 innings.
Creighton returns to action on Thursday, May 15 as the Bluejays take on Georgetown at 5:00 pm (CT) in Tysons, Virginia.
