OMAHA, Neb. --Â Creighton Softball senior Sydra Seville was named to the 2025 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Midwest Region First Team, the association announced on Thursday afternoon.Â
Â
Seville earned a First Team All-Midwest Region selection for the first time in her career, becoming just the ninth Bluejay in program history to secure NFCA First Team All-Region honors. In addition, Seville is the first Bluejay to earn first team all-region honors since Cayla Nielsen received first team honors in 2023.Â
Â
Last week, Seville earned her second consecutive all-conference honor, claiming All-BIG EAST First Team recognition after starting each of Creighton's 24 conference games in the lead-off position. The standout senior paced the Bluejays and ranked third in the BIG EAST with a .468 batting average, while racking up a BIG EAST single season record 44 hits in league play.Â
Â
Overall, the senior slugger led the BIG EAST, ranked ninth nationally and set a Creighton single season record with 80 hits, posting a .396 batting average with nine doubles, two triples, two home runs and a team-leading 46 runs and 21 stolen bases. Seville's 46 runs scored were the fourth-most in school history, while her 21 stolen bases this season were the seventh-most in a single season in program history and the most by a Bluejay since Melanie Dorsey recorded 24 stolen bags in 2005. In total, Seville reached base safely in 50 of the Bluejays 55 games this spring, ranking second on the team with a .453 on-base percentage.Â
Â
The New Lenox, Ill. native was just the 13th Bluejay to earn All-BIG EAST First Team honors and the sixth to claim All-BIG EAST honors multiple times since Creighton joined the league prior to the 2014 season. Seville finished her four-year career ranked ninth on Creighton's all-time career batting average list, hitting at a .333 average on 133 hits.Â
Â
The NFCA All-Region teams honor softball student-athletes from the association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and in all 380 student-athletes honored now become eligible for the 2025 NFCA All-America teams.
