SARASOTA, Fla. -- Rising sophomore Jacob Kutner birdied his final two holes in a qualifier at Sara Bay Country Club on Monday to earn co-medalist honors and earn a spot at next month's U.S. Amateur.
Kutner birdied his third and seventh holes to move to 2-under in Monday's round. After a bogey on the eighth hole, he made the turn in 33 after an eagle on the Par 5 ninth hole. A bogey on 12 moved him to 2-under before he finished with back-to-back birdies on the Par 72 course that measured 7,088 yards. His 68 tied him with Auburn's Cayden Pope for co-medalist honors, while Ryan Terry, Carson Brewer and Jake Ackerman also qualified for the U.S. Amateur after shooting a 69 on the Sara Bay Country Club course.
A product of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Kutner played in six rounds during his freshman campaign at Creighton, averaging 77.83 strokes per round. He shot rounds of 78, 73 and 86 to tie for 51st at the Tommie Invitational (Sept. 30-Oct. 1), then compiled loops of 74, 74 and 82 to tie for 82nd at the SeattleU Redhawk Invitational (March 31-April 1).
Kutner is the third Bluejay in the past five years to qualify for the U.S. Amateur, joining Jackson Thompson (2021) and Charlie Zielinski (2022).  Notable past champions of the U.S. Amateur include Arnold Palmer (1954), Jack Nicklaus (1959, 1961), Phil Mickelson (1990), Tiger Woods (1994, 1995, 1996) and Bryson DeChambeau (2015).
The 2025 U.S. Amateur will take place from Aug. 11-17 at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif., with the field of 312 golfers being whittled down to 64 golfers for match play that starts on Wednesday. Portions of match play from the event will be broadcast on Peacock as well as The Golf Channel.
