Volleyball's Martin Named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

Senior was MVP of the Creighton Classic
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton Volleyball's Ava Martin has been named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced on Monday. Martin averaged 4.27 kills, 1.27 digs and 0.45 blocks per set as she hit .314 during a 2-1 week that saw her earn Creighton Classic MVP honors and push the nation's top-ranked team to five sets.

Martin had 16 kills, six digs and three blocks on Tuesday against No. 1 Nebraska, with 11 of her kills coming in the two sets that CU won. She then hit .480 and finished with 13 kills in 25 swings against defending American Conference champ South Florida.
She closed her weekend with a match-high 18 kills in a 3-0 sweep over No. 17 Kansas, hitting .302 and adding four digs, two aces and a block.
This is the fifth time in Martin's career she's been named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, joining a pair of honors in both 2023 (Aug. 28 & Sept. 18) and 2024 (Nov. 4 & Nov. 25). Martin has now picked up 11 career All-Tournament Team accolades, including MVP honors at the Creighton Classic last weekend as well as the Diet Coke Classic in 2023.
Martin's teammate Kiara Reinhardt was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll. The Defensive Player of the Week went to UConn's Audrey Rome, Freshman of the Week laurels went to Seton Hall's Sadie Reich and Setter of the Week acclaim went to Marquette's Isabella Haggard.
 Creighton returns to the floor on Friday when it hosts Xavier (11-1) in its BIG EAST opener at 6:30 p.m.
