
Senior Duo Earn Weekly BIG EAST Volleyball Honors

Kiara Reinhardt and Annalea Maeder honored
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton Volleyball seniors Annalea Maeder and Kiara Reinhardt have been honored by the BIG EAST Conference after helping the Bluejays to a 2-0 start in league play. Maeder was named BIG EAST Setter of the Week while Reinhardt was recognized as BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week.
Maeder averaged a league-high 11.67 assists per set while also contributing 2.50 digs, 1.00 blocks, 0.67 kills and 0.50 aces per set in a pair of 3-0 sweeps in her BIG EAST debut. Maeder had 33 assists, 11 digs, four blocks and a pair of kills in Friday's win over Xavier, her seventh double-double of the fall. On Saturday, Maeder had 37 assists, four digs, three aces, two blocks and two kills in a sweep against Butler as CU hit .323 as a team. This is Maeder's second BIG EAST Setter of the Week accolade of the season, also winning two weeks ago on Sept. 15.
Reinhardt helped Creighton sweep Xavier and Butler as she averaged 2.83 kills and a league-leading 2.67 blocks per set, all while hitting .297. Reinhardt had nine kills, eight blocks and two digs on .353 hitting in a 3-0 win vs. Xavier on Friday, helping CU limit the Musketeers to .061 hitting. She finished her week with eight kills and eight blocks in a win over Butler while helping to hold the Bulldogs to .094 hitting. Reinhardt, the nation's only player on a Top 25 team with at least 120 kills who is hitting .400 or better, has now won six career BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week plaudits.
No. 16 Creighton (9-5, 2-0 BIG EAST) takes on a pair of BIG EAST co-leaders this week, playing at Marquette (8-4, 2-0 BIG EAST) on Thursday at 6 p.m. before visiting DePaul (9-4, 2-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
