Women’s Tennis Drops Season Opener at Kansas, 5-0

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Creighton Women's Tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision on the road to Kansas in the Bluejays season opener on Friday, Jan. 23 at the Jayhawk Tennis Center in Lawrence, Kan.
The Bluejays fell to 0-1 on the season with the loss, while the Jayhawks improved to 2-0, following a 5-0 win over Kansas City earlier in the day.
Kansas claimed the first point of the match, clinching the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles positions. Senior Annika Elvestrom and sophomore Olivia Minikel picked up the Bluejays lone win of the match, taking down Kansas' Anna Putilina and Yerkezhan Arystanbekova, 6-3, at the No. 2 doubles spot.
The Jayhawks continued their strong play throughout singles, clinching the match with straight set wins at the top four positions to claim the 5-0 victory.
Creighton returns to the courts on Friday, January 30 at 1 p.m. when travel to Milwaukee to battle Marquette in the BIG EAST opener.
