Originally from Oslo, Norway, Lisa-Marie Woods joined the Creighton Women’s Soccer staff in August of 2018. In her fourth year with the Bluejays, Woods holds a significant role in Creighton’s recruiting.
A decorated professional, Woods played soccer at the highest levels in nine different countries from 2005 until January of 2018 (United States, Australia, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Kazakhstan and Norway).
Woods’ coaching career started in 2003, when she earned her first coaching license.
“Lisa-Marie has tremendous experience and success. She has a great eye for talent and with her connections across the globe,” said head coach Ross Paule.
Woods has helped the Bluejays turn the corner during her first three seasons. Part of the BIG EAST’s Coaching Staff of the Year in 2020, she helped guide Creighton to its first BIG EAST Tournament appearance last season.
Inspired by watching her older brother play, Woods began playing soccer at just four years old. Her neighborhood produced four professionals on the pitch, with three male players joining her.
Woods began her national team career in 1998 with Norway, going on to captain the U-19 team in the UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship. She earned her first cap with the senior national team in 2009. In 2010 she won the Kniksen Prisen, given to the top player in Norway’s top league (Toppserien).
Woods brought her soccer talents to the United States in 2003 as she played for Oakland (2003) and Middle Tennessee (2004) before returning to Norway.
Over two seasons Woods appeared in 34 matches, earning 32 starts. She helped guide Oakland to the NCAA Tournament in 2003 with 19 points on six goals and seven assists. The following year with the Blue Raiders, Woods delivered four goals and nine assists.
