Brandon McCarville served as Athletic Facilities Director for Creighton University from August of 2006 until late July of 2022, when he was promoted to his current role of Assistant Athletic Director of Facility Operations and Events. In McCarville's role, he oversees the day to day operations of athletic facilities, game management, event parking, event security, rentals of facilities, and event operations of the school's on-campus facilities.
McCarville handles the day-today operations of D.J. Sokol Arena inside the Wayne and Eileen Ryan Athletic Center, the CU Sports Complex (baseball and softball), Michael G. Morrison, S.J., Soccer Stadium, The Ruth Scott Practice Facility and Creighton’s basketball Championship Center. He also serves as the Men’s Basketball (CHI Health Center Omaha and Baseball (Charles Schwab Field Omaha) game administrator.
McCarville is the athletic department’s liaison to the campus catering and concessioner (Sodexo). McCarville holds a stake in many events within the athletic department but directly oversees game day operations and over 50 event staff workers for Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, Volleyball, Women’s Basketball and Softball. McCarville also serves as the Men’s Basketball (CHI Health Center Arena and Baseball (Charles Schwab Field) game administrator. McCarville administers the College World Series team BBQ, Nebraska State High School Soccer Tournament, University Homecoming events, practice, and floor coordinator for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in 2008, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2020 as well as over 80 non-Creighton athletic related events per year. McCarville will serve as the Tournament Director for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in 2024, held at CHI Health Center Omaha.
Dedicated on Aug. 28, 2009, the Wayne and Eileen Ryan Athletic Center and D.J. Sokol Arena, a 78,134 square-foot facility, houses seating for 2,500, women’s basketball, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, cross country, rowing, men’s golf, women’s golf and volleyball coaches’ offices. The Ryan Center has eight locker rooms, ticket offices, athletic training and meeting rooms, media workrooms and much more. The arena is used for other campus and community events including campus assemblies, coaching camps/clinics, concerts, speakers, and high school graduations.
The Championship Center, a premier basketball practice facility houses two practice courts, a locker room, a player’s lounge, an athletic performance center, an athletic training center, an academic resource center, and offices for men’s basketball coaches and staff. All student-athletes use the facility for academic support, athletic training as well as strength and conditioning services.
Completed in 2004, Michael G. Morrison, S.J., Stadium features an arena grass all-weather surface with a seating capacity of 8,000. Considered one of the finest soccer venues in the United States, the facility includes a state-of-the-art video scoreboard, team souvenir shop, covered chairback seating, luxury suites, an enclosed press box, concession stands and banquet area. In 2018, the upper level of the stadium got a renovation adding eight soccer coaches’ offices, five new suites, a media/broadcast room and a soccer specific film room. In addition to women’s and men’s soccer matches, other events held there include the state soccer tournament, numerous soccer camps, concerts, community events and activities including annual Kicks for a Cure event to raise funds for cancer research.
In 2011, CU Sports Complex completed installation of a new baseball/softball-specific turf that features grass-like fibers and a combination sand-crushed rubber base. The softball field, home to the Creighton Softball program has taken on several upgrades from new field turf in the outfield, new fencing and a number of seating updates. The baseball field serves primary as a practice field for the baseball program, but also serves as a campus recreation field. The baseball field is the primary practice location for teams in the College World Series every June.
McCarville holds a BA in Communications from Bellevue University. He is a member of the Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, member of the International Association of Venue Managers, and a member of the Stadium Managers Association.
McCarville is a native of Lincoln, Neb. He resides in Bennington with his son Landon and daughter Rylan.
