
Softball Takes Care of Ladyjacks in 4-1 Win

TULSA, Okla. - The Creighton softball team defeated Stephen F. Austin, 4-1, Saturday afternoon at the Holiday Inn Select Tulsa Festival. The win moved Creighton's record on the season to 7-1, bouncing back from its first loss of the season on Friday night.
After SFA (3-9) went ahead on a solo home run in the top of the second inning, the Bluejays answered with their own solo shot. Junior catcher TJ Eadus blasted her team-leading fifth home run of the year to lead off the bottom of the inning.
Shortstop Bailey Dawson then connected on a solo home run of her own in the bottom of the third inning.Dawson took advantage of a dropped foul ball by the Ladyjack first baseman, smacking her third home run of the year to centerfield to put the Jays up 2-1.
The Bluejays tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning. Sophomore Jessica Wakasugi reached base on a one-out bunt hit and scored when Jamie Reiss followed with an RBI double to left center.Dawson followed with another Bluejay double, advancing Reiss to third base. After Eadus reached on an error to load the bases, Jessica German, who tripled earlier in the contest, grounded out but drove in the fourth Bluejay run.

Sophomore Laura Fonda started and went three innings for the Bluejays. The left-hander allowed only two hits, one run, walked none and struck out one in a no-decision. Freshman Tara Oltman improved to 5-0 on the season, pitching the final four innings. She allowed just two hits, walked none and struck out three to stay perfect in her career.
After rain altered the Saturday schedule at the event and threatens Sunday's slate, the Bluejays will play their final game at the tournament Saturday against
