
Men's Tennis Falls At Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Creighton men's tennis team was defeated 7-0 by Nebraska on Saturday in the Bluejays' first action of the spring season. The Huskers took each of the three doubles matches and all six singles contests during the afternoon at the Nebraska Tennis Center on the Nebraska campus.
In doubles action, Nebraska's No. 1 team of Mark Tate and David Bendheim defeated Creighton's Joe Eckert and Nikita Dudar, 8-4. The Huskers' Taylor Boney and Francois Van Impe were victorious in No. 2 doubles over CU's Jose Guerra and Brian Ward by a score of 8-5. In No. 3 doubles, NU's Karl Jones and Hendrik Stahmer defeated CU's Michael Elson and James McAvoy, 8-6.
In No. 1 singles, Nebraska's Bendheim was victorious over Guerra, 6-1, 6-2. The Huskers' Colin Paar defeated CU's Dudar, 6-2, 6-1, in No. 2 singles. NU's Renato Melo took No. 3 singles with a 7-5, 6-1 decision over Eckert.
No. 4 singles was won by NU's Tate, as he defeated McAvoy by scores of 6-3, 6-2. NU's Jones defeated Ward in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-1, while Boney completed the Husker sweep in No. 6 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 win over CU's Elson.
The Jays will return to the Nebraska Tennis Center courts Sunday morning, as Creighton will take on Air Force at 9:30 a.m.
