
Women's Tennis Blanked By Evansville, 7-0

OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton Women's Tennis team could not overcome a tough Evansville squad Saturday afternoon, as the Purple Aces grounded the Bluejays, 7-0 at the Koch Family Tennis Center.
Creighton managed one victory, coming at No. 2 doubles, as Tess Reddin and Mary Pat McMullan stayed undefeated as partners with an 8-3 win over Ashton Schwerin and Pin Sorenson. The two are 9-0 as a team, with Reddin having won her last 11 doubles matches overall.
That was the lone Creighton (11-8, 1-5 MVC) win on the day, as Evansville took the doubles point. Kate Chybowski and Theadora Kotsiou defeated Kelsey Schmidt and Anna Kirsenbaum 8-3 at No. 1 and Carolyn Caire and Aleksandra Dzakula topped Leesa and Sarah Cadwallader 8-3 at No. 3.
The singles were all Evansville, as they won all six matches in straight sets. Chybowski led-off with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Reddin. Kotsiou handled Kirshenbaum at No. 2, 6-0, 6-4 and Schwerin clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Lauren Mastro at No. 3.
Sorenson started the second half of singles play with a 5-7, 6-2, 10-6 win over Schmidt at No. 4. Creighton put up a battle in the final two matches, coming up just short as Dzakula defeated Lindsey Erickson 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 and Caire topped McMullan 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6.
Creighton will wrap up its regular season Sunday in Omaha with an MVC duel with Southern Illinois. Match time is slated for 9 a.m. back at the Koch Family Tennis Center.
