
Women's Tennis Defeats South Dakota at Home

OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton women's tennis team got off to a quick start against the Coyotes of South Dakota, winning the doubles point and then won the first four singles matches completed on the day. Creighton improves to 4-3 on the season, while South Dakota falls to 1-6.
In doubles play, Sarah Cadwallader and Leesa Cadwallader defeated Marina Kiefer and Maddy Warder 8-2 in the No. 3 doubles, finishing first out of the three doubles finishes. Finishing second and securing the Bluejays the doubles point, was Kelsey Schmidt and Mary McMullan, who defeated Ysabel Nunez and Alena Sergeychik 8-3. To finish out the doubles, Anna Kirshenbaum and Analese Snyder defeated Veronika Makashov and Shadi Soleymani 8-4.
McMullan started off the singles matches by defeating Marina Kiefer 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 5 singles, followed closely by Sarah Cadwallader defeating Maddy Warder in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. With the Jays leading 3-0, Lauren Mastro won her No. 4 singles match 6-3, 6-1, giving Creighton the automatic win, reaching four first.
Snyder defeated Veronika Makashov 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles to give Creighton a 5-0 lead. The last two finishes of the day would go to the Coyotes, as Shadi Soleymani defeated Schmidt 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 3 singles and Alena Sergeychik defeated Kirshenbaum 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 1 spot.
Sarah Cadwallader and Mary McMullan are both on three match winning streaks in their respective singles positions, while the Jays continue their win one, lose one streak, and improve to 4-3 on the season.
