Sullivan and Roll Vault Women's Soccer to 2-1 Overtime Win at Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. - Sophomores Lauren Sullivan and Emily Roll connected for goals in the 89th and 102nd minutes to give the Creighton women's soccer to a 2-1 overtime win at Omaha on Sunday, Sept. 21.
The win moved the Bluejays to 8-1-0 on the season, while Omaha fell to 2-6-0.
Trailing 1-0 in the closing moments of regulation, Sullivan and Roll connected on the equalizer. Roll set the play in motion, by beating a defender deep in the right corner on the outside of the Maverick's goal box. Roll centered a pass towards the middle, where Sullivan headed the ball home for her fourth goal of the season to knot the match at 1-1 at 88:25.
Under two minutes into the second overtime period the duo repeated the feat, with a slight variation. This time Roll started the play from the right, approximately 25 yards outside the goal. Roll's pass found her mark once more as Sullivan came charging from the left to head in the game-winner at 101:57.
Playing from behind for much of the game, the Bluejays appeared to pull even in the 84th minute as junior Kirstyn Corder headed in a pass from Sullivan. The goal, however, was waived off due to an offside penalty called on the Bluejays.
Omaha got its goal in the 23rd minute as Kyla Booker knocked in a goal from eight yards in front of the net via a centered pass form Chelsi Rohloff.
This is the Bluejays' first overtime game and overtime victory of 2014. The last time Creighton earned a win in extra time came on Sept. 15, 2013 as the Bluejays downed Montana, 2-1.
The win also marks the first time that Creighton has rallied to claim a win in a match that the Bluejays trailed after the 88th minute of regulation.
Creighton returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 26 as the Bluejays open BIG EAST Conference play at Marquette. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. (CT).
