OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton men's soccer team will travel to Europe for two weeks during its foreign trip from June 30 through July 13 when it will play four matches in Germany and Austria while touring the region.
Plans call for members of the team to be blogging, tweeting and sending photos and videos from their trip while they are away. Regular updates will be featured on GoCreighton.com as well as the team Twitter account @CreightonMSOC.
The team arrives in Munich, Germany on July 1. The Bluejays are slated to play 1860 Munich on July 2 in the first match of the trip. After a few days in Munich, the Bluejays travel to Salzburg, Austria on July 6 to play Red Bull Salzburg that evening.
Creighton later treks to Freiburg, Germany – the hometown of CU senior Vincent Keller – the following day. The Jays then battle SC Freiburg on July 8. The team will spend a few days in Freiburg with an opportunity to cross the Rhine River into Strasbourg, France.
The squad wraps up its trip with a final match against Karlsruhe before returning to Munich on July 12. The Bluejays return to the U.S. on July 13.
Creighton is slated to return eight starters from last year's team that finished with the best winning percentage in the nation at 16-3-3 (.795). Last season the Jays won their first BIG EAST regular season title with a 7-1-1 mark in just the second year in the conference. Creighton's 2014 campaign ended with the third NCAA quarterfinal appearance in the last four seasons.
