MISSOULA, Mont. -- Ylenia Sachau's goal in the 53rd minute helped the Creighton women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Montana on Sunday, Sept. 13.
The victory was the first of the season in three tries away from the friendly confines of Morrison Stadium and improved the Bluejay to 5-3-0 this fall. Montana is now 3-4-1.
Erin Scott earned her fourth shutout of the year for the Bluejays, tying her for the BIG EAST lead. The freshman made five saves.
Sachau scored her team-high fourth goal of the year, and second game-winner, after a Bluejay corner kick. Jill Richgels' service into the box was knocked around before Sachau collected it and with her momentum falling away, booting it past Lady Griz keeper Kailey Norman.
Creighton later had a second goal nullified by an offsides call.
"This was a great road win. We battled and were rewarded with the result," noted head coach Ross Paule. "Overall a great weekend and steps forward for creighton women soccer."
Lauren Sullivan unleashed eight shots to lead a Bluejay attack that outshot the hosts, 17-9, overall.
Creighton is home on Friday at 7 pm when it hosts Northern Colorado as part of Homecoming week on the CU campus.
