Women's Golf Ties For 14th in Texas

Pair of Bluejays finish in top-15
TROPHY CLUB, Texas – The Creighton women's golf team tied for 14th at the ORU/SFA Spring Break Invitational on Tuesday . The Bluejays shot a three-round 923 (321+299+303) at the Trophy Club Country Club.
Junior Kelsey Petersen and sophomore Sarah Eversman each finished in the top-20 individually to lead Creighton. Peterson tied for 12th and carded a 222 (76+72+74), while Eversman tied for 15th and totaled a 223 (82+68+73) on the par-70 course that measured 5,800 yards.
Petersen and Eversman each set career-lows for a 54-hole tournament.
They also shot career-best rounds during the second round. Petersen's 2-over par 72 was two better than her previous low and Eversman's 2-under par 68 was six better.
Houston Baptist earned the team championship by one stroke as the top four teams finished within a stroke of each other. The Huskies shot an 891 (291+298+302) to edge out Little Rock's 892 (297+296+299). Co-host Oral Roberts totaled an 893 (293+295+305) for third and Georgetown finished with an 894 (306+298+290) for fourth place in the 20-team field.
Houston Baptist's Giorgia Carletti defeated Little Rock's Shania Berger in a one-hole playoff for the individual crowd. The pair finished at 4-over par 216 after three rounds. Wichita State's Taryn Torgerson placed third with a 217 and Kaity Cummings (Houston Baptist) and Sabrina Bonanno (Little Rock) tied for fourth at 218.
Creighton freshman Caroline Lake tied for 65th with a 236 (80+78+78), senior Grace Yowell shot a 242 (83+81+78) for 86th and sophomore Kelsey Johnson tied for 93rd with a 247 (83+85+79).
The Bluejays return to the links for the 2016 Gary Crossley Ford Kansas City Shootout on April 4-5.
