Women's Golf Closes Kansas City Shootout in 10th Place

Kelsey Petersen leads the team with a 14th place finish
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Creighton women's golf team placed 10th at the Kansas City Shootout on Tuesday, April 5. The Bluejays shot a 962 (319+316+327) over the two-day event at the Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo.
Junior Kelsey Petersen paced Creighton with a 14-over par 230 (76+78+76) and tied for 14th. It's the third straight meet Petersen has led the Bluejays with a top-15 finish.
Little Rock earned the team title with a two-stroke victory over Wichita State. The Trojans shot a three-round 918 (312+300+306) while the Shockers finished with a 920 (310+293+317) on the par-72 course.
Host UMKC's Cynthia Diaz carded a 4-over 220 (77+73+70) to earn the individual crown. Stina Resen led Little Rock with a 221 (75+71+75) and placed runner-up. Brenna Lervick (South Dakota), Anna Wilcoxson (Western Michigan) and Taryn Torgerson (Wichita State) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
Bluejay freshman Caroline Lake concluded the event in a tie for 52nd after a 244 (81+78+85).
Sophomore Sarah Eversman carded a 245 (81+80+84) and tied for 56th.
Freshman Kelsey Johnson and senior Grace Yowell rounded out the scoring for Creighton. Johnson tied for 63rd with a 247 (81+84+82) and Yowell finished one shot behind Johnson with a 248 (82+80+86) and placed 65th.
The Bluejays return to the links April 11-12 at the 2016 Bobcat Spring Invitational in Goodyear, Arizona for their final tune-up before the Big East Championships (April 22-24).
