Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton Baseball team continued to stack up weekend victories as the Bluejays completed its fourth consecutive weekend sweep by taking both games in a doubleheader with North Dakota on Sunday, March 20. The Bluejays posted a 5-0 win in seven innings in the opener, then claimed the sweep with a 7-1 win in the series finale.
Creighton moved to 12-4 on the season following Sunday's action, while North Dakota fell to 3-10.
Game 1: Creighton 5, North Dakota 0 (Seven Innings)
Seniors Reagan Fowler and Matt Warren were the stars of the opener, a game that was scheduled for seven innings.
Fowler blasted his first home run as a Bluejay, a two-run laser over the left field wall, in the fifth. Warren, meanwhile, limited North Dakota to just four hits in six innings of scoreless work to move to 4-1 on the season.
The Bluejays jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second, taking advantage of a leadoff single from Fowler and some Fighting Hawk miscues. Brett Murray followed Fowler with a sacrifice bunt, but reached on a throwing error. Creighton loaded the bases in short order and scored on an RBI walk to Matt Gandy and later in the inning when Kevin Connolly was hit by a pitch.
The Bluejays added a run in the third on a triple from Nicky Lopez and a sac fly from Murray.
Game 2: Creighton 7, North Dakota 1
Creighton jumped out to an early lead once more in the final game, plating three runs in the bottom of the first. As he has been all season long, junior Daniel Woodrow was the offensive catalyst with four hits and two stolen bases.
Woodrow lofted a single into right field to open the first, then stole second just two pitches later. After Ryan Fitzgerald was hit by a pitch to put two Bluejays on, Lopez and Fowler delivered back-to-back singles to give Creighton the lead. Murray plated Fitzgerald with a fielder's choice and Lopez scored on errant throw.
Sophomore Keith Rogalla shined on the mound, recording a career-high nine strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work to move to 1-1 on the season.
