Sydnee Eck allows just one hit while striking out 13 in her shutout
KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Sydnee Eck struck out 13 in a one-hit shutout as Creighton Softball blanked Holy Cross, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla.
Eck (8-4) retired the first 12 women she faced before allowing a leadoff single to open the fifth inning to Taylor Moss. Eck responded by striking out the next three women to escape the jam. The only other woman to reach against Eck was a one-out walk in the seventh to Emily Jarvis.
Creighton got the only offense it would need in the first inning, scoring on RBI base hits by Allie Reinhart and Blake Ringle. Reinhart had a two-out double to plate Michelle Trulin, while Ringle followed with a single to bring home Reinhart.
Creighton (12-9) will face Hampton at 2:45 pm Central today.
