Women's Tennis Falls to South Dakota State, 5-2

Sioux Falls, S.D. -- The Creighton women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss to South Dakota State on Sunday, April 10. The loss dropped the Bluejays to 8-9 overall, while the Jackrabbits moved to 12-8.
Creighton claimed the first doubles match, 6-0, as Michaela Henne and Katherine Nelsen bested Florencia Magni and Beatriz Souza in No. 2 doubles. South Dakota State, however, rallied to earn the first point of the match with 6-1 and 6-3 victories the No. 1 and No. 3 spots.
Nelsen quickly evened the match at 1-1, dispatching of Magni in singles action at the No. 3 slot with a 6-2, 6-2 win. The Jackrabbits responded by claiming the next four singles matches to secure the match.
Henne closed the evening on a high note with a three-set win over Tacy Haws-Lay at No. 4, 6-7, 7-5, and 7-6.
The Bluejays return to action on Thursday, April 28 as Creighton will begin play in the BIG EAST Tournament in Cayce, S.C.
