Women's Soccer Bests Broncos, 5-0

Omaha, Neb. -- Behind two goals from both senior Lauren Sullivan and junior Darby Hugunin, the Creighton women's soccer team closed out its exhibition schedule with a 5-0 victory over Hastings on Sunday, Aug. 14.
Sullivan got the Bluejays on the scoreboard in the 21st minute, fielding a pass up the right side from freshman Jaylin Bosak about 40 yards out. The pass allowed Sullivan to blow past two defenders for a one-on-one against Hastings keeper Emma Toohey. Creighton's senior won the battle, blasting her first goal from 10 yards away.
Still 1-0 entering the second half, Sullivan delivered a pretty second score in the 53rd minute as she redirected a blast from senior Ylenia Sachau into the net.
Freshman Callie Hawkins tallied the Bluejays third goal of the match. Fellow freshman Taryn Jakubowski sent a pass from the box to Hawkins in the clear from 25 yards away, Hawkins put the ball away blasting it into the top corner to give Creighton a 3-0 edge.
The final two goals came in the final 10 minutes of play as Hugunin put home a pass from freshman Ashleigh Cearlock in the 83rd minute, then cleaning up a rebound in the 85th minute.
Creighton outshot Hastings 31-4, including a 19-2 edge in the second half.
The Bluejays open the 2016 season on Friday, Aug. 19 as Creighton hosts Iowa in Morrison Stadium at 7:00 pm.
