Men's Basketball Breaks Century Mark In Rout of SIUE

Five Bluejays score in double-figures in lopsided win
OMAHA, Neb. -- Martin Krampelj had a career-high 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting to lead five Creighton players in double-figures in a wire-to-wire 103-66 win over SIU Edwardsville.
The victory was Creighton's (5-1) 200th all-time at CenturyLink Center Omaha, coming in the 242nd game its played in the facility.
The Bluejays led 43-33 at the half, then turned on the afterburners to score 60 points after the break as all 12 men in uniform scored.
SIUE (1-4) was paced by 19 points and nine rebounds from Jalen Henry, plus 19 points by Christian Ellis. Daniel Kinchen, who entered the game averaging 21.8 points per contest, picked up a pair of fouls in the first two minutes and finished with a season-high six points in 20 minutes of work.
A dunk on the opening possession, one of five from Krampelj on the day, set the tone for a high-flying Bluejay attack that owned nine dunks on the afternoon. Creighton led 8-3 after two minutes and took a 10-point lead into the intermission after Marcus Foster's three-pointer rattled in at the halftime horn.
Creighton opened the second half on a 17-5 run, with Foster (7), Khyri Thomas (6) and Krampelj (4) contributing all the points, pushing CU's lead to 60-38 with 14:21 to go.
In addition to Krampelj's 20 points, Thomas had 17 and Foster 15 points. Kaleb Joseph scored 12 points and three assists in 11 minutes off the bench, and Ronnie Harrell Jr. tallied 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists. CU shot 58.3 percent for the game and drained 12 three-pointers. CU won the rebound battle 44-29 and dished 27 assists on 35 field goals.
Creighton returns to action on Friday with a road game at nationally-ranked Gonzaga that will tip at 9:15 p.m. Central and air on ESPN2.
