Women's Tennis Opens Spring Break In Florida With Win Over John Carroll

Creighton won its first of four matches in Orlando
ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Creighton women's tennis team defeated John Carroll at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. on Monday afternoon.
The Bluejays are now 5-5, while the Blue Streaks fell to 3-4.
Creighton opened the afternoon with three doubles wins, dropping a total of four games on its way to the doubles point.
Singles victories by Claire Embree (No. 4), Darby Rosette (No. 3) and Ashley Monaco (No. 5) helped the Bluejays claim the overall dual, while Michaela Henne (No. 2) and Kendra Lavallee (No. 6) also won singles matches.
The Bluejays earned straight-sets wins at five out of the six singles positions.
John Carroll's lone victory came in straight-sets at No. 1.
Creighton is back on the courts in Florida on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. (CST) against Evansville.

"Our girls fought through the wind and played well in tough conditions," head coach Tom Lilly said. "It shows our team depth and strength that we can hold out two starters from singles to rest injuries for the rest of the week and still play very well throughout."
