Bulldogs hit four home runs and score all 10 runs with two outs
The Bluejays dropped to 8-7 in BIG EAST action and 18-24 overall, while the Bulldogs improved to 6-8 in league play and 18-26 overall.
Creighton won the three-game series after claiming a pair of contests over Butler on Saturday.
The Bulldogs scored all 10 of their runs with two outs, launched four home runs and hit three doubles on Sunday.Â
The Bluejays jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after the first two innings.
Sam Dellinger started the scoring with a two-run home run to left field during the opening frame. Ashley Cantu led off the bottom of the first with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Dellinger lifted the third pitch of her at-bat over the left-field wall to give Creighton a 2-0 edge.
During the second inning, Jen Daro led off the frame by getting hit by the pitch and Jordyn Sturgeon reached on an error. Pinch-hitter Jayci McGill sent a ball into deep right-field that bounced over the wall for a ground-rule double, allowing Daro to score from second.
Tash Coffiel drove in two more runs with a single to right field to give Creighton a  five-run lead after two frames.
Creighton starting pitcher Bryana Clark struck out the first two batters she faced in the third before allowing consecutive singles to put two on with two outs. Â Four pitches later, Butler cut into the lead with a two-out three-run home run to left field off the bat of Kennedy Minko.Â
The Bluejays did not answer in the bottom of the inning and both teams failed to score in the fourth.Â
Creighton reliever Michal Hylton recorded a strikeout, walk and fly out to open the top of the 5th, but the Bulldogs took the lead with consecutive two-out extra-base hits. A double plated the fourth Butler run and a two-run home run from Kaitlin Doud gave the visitors a 6-5 lead.
The Jays had an opportunity to tie the game with a runner in scoring position during the bottom of the inning before a pop out ended the threat.
After neither team scored in the sixth, Butler extended its lead to five runs with a four-run seventh inning.
A lead-off bunt single preceded two sacrifice bunts and an intentional walk to put runners at second and third with two outs. The Bulldogs needed only two additional hits to plate four runs.
Butler pinch-hitter Maggie MacBeth sent a 1-2 pitch over the right-field wall for three-run homer and the Bulldogs' third home run of the game. Brandyce Sallee followed MacBeth with a solo shot over the left-center field wall to make it 10-5 in favor of Butler.
Dellinger hit her second home run of the game on the first pitch of the home-half of the seventh to make it 10-6. After a line out, Allie Reinhart, Daro and Sturgeon each singled to load the bases with one out.
Jessica Lewis, representing the tying-run, lifted the first pitch of her at-bat into right field for the second out. Reinhart tagged from third and scored ahead of a throw to make it 10-7 in favor of Butler.
With runners at second and third, Aujanae McCoy grounded out to second to end the game.
Dellinger led the Creighton offense with her two home runs and three RBIs. Daro finished a perfect 2-for-2, was hit by the pitch twice and scored once.  Seven other Bluejays each recorded one hit as the team finished with 11 overall.Â
Three Creighton pitchers combined to strikeout nine Butler hitters, but the Bulldogs tallied nine hits (9-for-16) and 10 RBIs with two outs. Â
The Bluejays return to action on Tuesday night for a make-up game against Nebraska. First pitch between the Creighton and Nebraska is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Creighton Sports Complex.Â
