Creighton vs. Seton Hall Series
Bluejays lead, 10-3
This will be the Bluejays second trip to South Orange as Creighton took two of three in 2015. Creighton has held the upper hand on the Pirates, holding a 10-3 edge since the two teams began play as BIG EAST opponents in 2014. These two teams have met nine times in the regular season and four times in the BIG EAST Tournament. Although the Bluejays have won each of the first three series, the battles have been extremely hard fought. Six of the 13 meetings have resulted in one-run outcomes, including two last season. The last battle between the two squads came in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament last season, with Creighton claiming a 6-5 win.
Scouting Seton Hall (23-18, 6-6 BIG EAST)
With just two series remaining in BIG EAST play, the Pirates appear to be hitting their stride at just the right time. Seton Hall has won seven of its last nine games. Always a dangerous squad, the Pirates are 4-6 against ranked opposition this season. In addition, Seton Hall is 13-6 at home on the season.
The Pirate offense has been its weak point, hitting just .255 as a team.
Despite the low production at the plate, Seton Hall is as dangerous as it comes on the base paths. The Pirate have swiped 59 bags this season, led by Ryan Ramiz (13-of-14) and Mike Alescio (10-of-11). The leading hitter for Seton Hall is Matt Toke at .299 and 17 RBI.
On the mound the Pirates hold a 3.67 team ERA. The starting rotation of Shane McCarthy, Cullen Dana and Zach Prendergast have a combined ERA of 4.20 in 178 innings, while the rest of the team sits at 3.18 in 187 innings.
