Allen's Top 10 Finish Leads Women's Golf at Creighton Classic

Bluejays split squads finish fifth and sixth at lone home meet of the fall
OMAHA, Neb. -- Freshman Katie Allen tied for ninth place to lead a contingent of 10 Bluejay golfers at the Creighton Classic, which concluded Tuesday.
Creighton split up its squad into two groups of five and finished in fifth and sixth place in its lone home meet of the fall. Competing for Creighton's "Blue" team, Allen opened with a 79 on Monday before tying her season-best effort with a 75 on Tuesday. Joining Allen on the Blue team was sophomore Margaret Hickey (81-81=162, T25th), senior Sydney Gillespie (84-81=165, T31st), senior Rachel Grenko (83-83=166, T33rd) and sophomore Amelia Lee (84-82=166, T33rd).
Creighton's "White" team was paced by seniors Caroline Lake (75-85=160, T18th) and Kelsey Johnson (80-81=161, T22nd). Lake's 75 had her in fourth place after the initial circuit and tied the best round of her Bluejay career. Johnson's placing was the best of her four-year career at CU.
Also competing for the White team were freshmen Katie Wilson (83-83=166, T33rd) and Kristin Goertz (88-80=168, T36th), as well as junior Delaney Benson (90-87=177, 44th).
Northern Iowa (602) won the eight-team meet by 11 shots over South Dakota (613). The Panthers had three of the top six golfers in the field, led by Sydney Eaton's second place (75-73=148) finish. USD was paced by meet medalist Katie Bartlett, who shot rounds of 75 and 72 to finish with a 1-over 147. Drake (616) and Nebraska-Omaha (631) also finished in the top five of the team standings.
The event featured eight teams and 47 competitors overall, and was contested on the Oak Hills Country Club course that was a par 73 and played at 5,952 yards.
The meet was the final contest of the fall for the Bluejay women, who will resume their season in the spring.
