Volleyball Tops DePaul To Clinch 20th Win

Bluejays have won 12 straight and lead the BIG EAST by two games
CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Creighton Volleyball team clinched its seventh straight 20-win season with a 3-0 victory at DePaul on Saturday night in the Windy City.
Scores of the match in favor of CU were 25-15, 25-13, 25-19.
Taryn Kloth led Creighton with 14 kills in 29 swings and also contributed two aces, while Megan Ballenger added 12 kills and hit .556. Brittany Witt added 11 digs and moved into sole possession of second place with 1,403 in her career at CU. Creighton finished with 46 kills, five aces, 36 digs and six blocks on .379 hitting.
Emma Price topped DePaul (5-18, 3-9 BIG EAST) with seven kills. The Blue Demons never led by more than one point at any time in the match. The Blue Demons had 28 kills, three aces, 35 digs and three blocks on .103 hitting.
CU hit .440 in the opening set as Jaali Winters had four kills in five swings to pace the offense. The Bluejays also had four blocks, including three from Naomi Hickman.
Ballenger had a kill on all five of her swings in the second set, and added a pair of blocks to help hold the Blue Demons to -.107 hitting. CU broke loose from a tight 12-10 contest with a 13-10 run to end the set, including back-to-back kills by Kloth to close out the frame.
Creighton was up 17-15 in the third set before a 5-1 spurt helped the Bluejays' final push. Kloth had each of CU's final three kills to close out the set, part of a final set that saw her collect eight kills.
Creighton (20-4, 12-0 BIG EAST) will visit third-place St. John's next Friday at 6 p.m. Central.
