About Nebraska
Scouting Nebraska (2-4)
The Huskers have stumbled through the first six games, but haven't been that far off. Nebraska was just six points away from Drake in the season opener, then dropped a double overtime road contest to Washington State on Nov. 16. Nebraska followed by pushing #24/#22 Miami in a road contest just after Thanksgiving (82-68). The Huskers have split their last two games, easily besting Radford and falling at Louisville 85-68 on Nov. 29.
Despite coming off the bench, freshman Sam Haiby leads the Huskers with 11.5 ppg early this season. Just a step back is senior Maddie Simon at 10.0 ppg, while Hannah Whitish is averaging 9.2 ppg. Nebraska has shot the three better than in recent years, hitting 48 treys and shooting it at 38.1 percent (48-of-126).
One problem area for Nebraska this season has been turnovers as the Huskers have
committed 101 turnovers in six games, an average of 16.8 per game.
Scouting Creighton (1-4)
The Bluejays have been bitten time and time again this season by injuries. Two more Bluejays were struck by injuries just prior to Thanksgiving as Jade Owens and Ali Greene were each sidelined against #23 Drake. Creighton has yet to play a game with its projected starting unit (Agnew, Carda, Elger, Faber and Greene). In five contests, the Bluejays have used four different starting lineups.
Injuries, however, provide opportunities as well. Two players stepped up in big ways against the Bulldogs as Temi Carda reached 20 points for the first time in her young career. Meanwhile freshman Payton Brotzki was just one rebound away from collecting a double-double finishing with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Sister-Sister, Part Two
Sunday will mark the second time that Creighton's Brooke Kissinger will be asked to play on the opposite side of her sister, Nebraska's Taylor Kissinger. Three years older than Taylor, Brooke began her collegiate career at Illinois, but she transferred to Creighton two years ago. Last season Taylor outscored Brooke by five points, but Brooke and the Bluejays got the win.
