Baseball Faces UNO Tuesday, Heads to Xavier for Weekend Series

Omaha, Neb. -- Back home to face Nebraska-Omaha in a single game on Tuesday, the Creighton Baseball team then heads to Ohio for a three-game series at Xavier over the weekend.

Scouting the Bluejays (2018: 20-10, 1-4 BIG EAST)
The Bluejays return home for a single game against local rival Nebraska-Omaha before heading back out on the road to face Xavier over the weekend.
Creighton has been very tough to beat at home, taking eight of nine contests in TD Ameritrade Park Omaha. Entering Tuesday's game the Bluejays are hitting .258 as a team, led by Clark Brinkman's .341 clip. On the bump Creighton has a 4.46 ERA.

About Xavier
Scouting the Musketeers (2018: 12-23, 2-4 BIG EAST)
As the Musketeers do each season, Xavier has played one of the most grueling schedules in the country.
As a result the Musketeers entered BIG EAST play with a less than impressive record at
10-19 in non-conference action. Xavier, however, has struggled in the first two conference series. The Musketeers have dropped road series at Georgetown and at Seton Hall.
On the bump Xavier has a 5.77 ERA. The Musketeers have shuffled starters this season, giving a shot to nine different hurlers. The one consistent starter has been Damien Richard (1-4, 3.54 ERA).
At the plate the Musketeers bring a .259 average into the week. Leading the way are Chris Givin and Joe Gellenbeck, both at .303.
Bluejays Suffer First Conference Sweep in Five Years
For the first time since joining the BIG EAST, Creighton found itself on the wrong side of a three-game series sweep. Dropping three at St. John's over the weekend.
The last time the Bluejays were swept in a three-game conference series was 2013 (April 12-14) against Indiana State.
Church Shining For Bluejays
Over Creighton's last 10 games, senior Preston Church has stepped to the forefront for the pitching staff.
After losing his spot in the weekend rotation earlier this season, Church has a 0.63 ERA in his last three starts. During that stretch Preston is 2-0 over 14.1 innings. He has allowed just two runs (one earned), while striking out 14.
Moved back into the weekend rotation against. St. John's, Church recorded nine strikeouts in seven innings. Despite not allowing a run, Church settled for a no-decision.
