Scouting the Bluejays (2018: 31-15, 8-9 BIG EAST)
The Bluejays enter the final week of the regular season riding a five-game win streak.
Last week Creighton completed a three-game season sweep of Nebraska for the first time in school history, then went on to take a game from UNO and sweep three from Villanova over the weekend.
The pitchers shined against the Wildcats as senior Ryan Tapani authored a complete game shutout, then Mitch Ragan countered with a complete game of his own in a 6-1 win.
In the finale with Villanova junior Mike Emodi provided the thunder with a two-run home run in the eighth inning to lift Creighton to a 3-2 win.
Bluejays vs. UNO
Creighton leads the series with the Mavericks, 53-30. Head coach Ed Servais is 8-3 against UNO.
A game-by-game account of the Bluejays' battles with the Mavericks under Servais is below.

Scouting the Mavericks (2018: 14-32)
The highlight of the UNO season came on April 18 as the Mavericks collected an 8-7 win over Nebraska. Since that game UNO is just 1-13, including eight straight losses.
The Mavericks enter Tuesday's contest hitting .238 as a team, led by Cole Thibodeau and Braden Rogers at .274.
On the bump UNO has a team ERA of 5.34.
Bluejays and Mavericks Battle Will Bring the Noise
The Bluejays will host Nebraska-Omaha tomorrow morning for "Cox Kids Day" at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha (11:05 am).
This game is an annual tradition for the Bluejays as local children from the Omaha area are invited to catch a game at TD
Ameritrade Park Omaha.
The event began in 2012, with Creighton winning four of the six contests.

Bluejays vs. Cal
Creighton trails the series with Cal 1-0, as the Golden Bears took the only meeting 7-5 in 2012 on March 6 in Berkeley, Calif.
This is the first time the Golden Bears will play Creighton, but Cal earned a trip to TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in 2011, going 1-2.
Scouting the Golden Bears (2018: 29-19)
Cal comes to Omaha following a weekend series sweep of Arizona on a four-game winning streak.
While likely not in contention for a NCAA
Tournament bid, the Golden Bears have a series win over Pac-12 Powerhouse UCLA and took the series opener from #2 Stanford in late April.
All-American candidate Andrew Vaughn leads Cal at the dish with a .410 average, including 22 home runs and 57 RBI. As a team the Golden Bears come to Omaha hitting .294.
Cal, however, is vulnerable on the mound with a team ERA of 4.32. The back end of the bullpen is formidable as Tanner Dodson has 11 saves in 18 appearances and a paltry 2.09 ERA.
BIG EAST Tournament At A Glance
The top four teams in the BIG EAST will battle for the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament in Mason, Ohio from May 24-27.
Already the Red Storm and Pirates have clinched a spot, while the last two spots remain up for grabs.

What the Bluejays Need
There are a couple of scenarios that could lead to the Bluejays earning a spot in the BIG EAST
Tournament. Below are scenarios, if all games are played this weekend.
Step 1: Root for Red Storm and Pirates. St. John's faces Butler in the final weekend, while Georgetown battles Seton Hall.
Both Butler and Georgetown can clinch a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament. If either the Hoyas or Bulldogs are swept, Creighton slides into the BIG EAST Tournament.
When Its Clutch Time Count on Emodi
Trailing 2-1 in the eighth inning, a dropped fly ball set the stage for junior Michael Emodi to deliver in the clutch once more.
Sophomore Will Robertson lifted a pop fly into short left, but the Villanova shortstop and left fielder narrowly missed running into one another as the ball dropped. Robertson alertly raced to second on the play. With the game in the balance, head coach Ed Servais choose not to bunt. Villanova countered by going to the bullpen for Zach Lutner. Emodi battled the Wildcat reliever to a 3-2 count before launching a no doubt home run to left. It was Emodi's eighth of the season and proved to the difference in the Bluejays' 3-2 win to sweep the series.
Tapani and Robertson Sweep BIG EAST Weekly Awards AGAIN
Senior Ryan Tapani and sophomore Will Robertson swept the BIG EAST Weekly awards for the second time this season as the duo helped the Bluejays post a perfect 5-0 week from May 7-13.
The duo also swept the BIG EAST Honors on April 2. This is Tapani's fourth BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honor this season, while it's Robertson's third BIG EAST Player of the Week nod.
Tapani tossed a complete game shutout in the series opener against Villanova with an impressive stat line of 12 strikeouts, three hits and one walk. In the 4-0 win for the Bluejays, Tapani tossed 127 pitches and just allowed six batters over the minimum. After an error allowed Villanova's first hitter of the game to reach, Tapani retired 16 consecutive hitters. It was Tapani's first career complete game and was a personal record in pitches and strikeouts. It was the first complete game shutout for a Bluejay since Rollie Lacy did so against St. John's on April 17, 2015.
Robertson had a seven-RBI week to help the Bluejays go undefeated against Nebraska, Nebraska-Omaha and BIG EAST foe Villanova. Robertson closed the week 7-for-19 (.368) with a team best seven RBI and a .579 slugging percentage. He blasted his team-leading 12th home run in a 10-6 win over Nebraska-Omaha on Wednesday. He delivered at least one RBI in the Bluejays' first four games of the week and scored the game-tying run in the eighth inning of the series finale with Villanova.
Tapani Was Dominant in Complete Game Shutout Recording 12 Punch Outs
Needing to sweep the final BIG EAST series, senior Ryan Tapani stepped up to show his squad he was ready to fight with a complete game shutout win (4-0) over Villanova on Friday, May 11.
It was the Bluejays' first complete game since Keith Rogalla went the distance against St. John's on April 9, 2017 and Creighton's first complete game shutout since Rollie Lacy do so to the Red Storm on April 17, 2015.
Things didn't start off easy for Tapani as the first Wildcat hitter reached on an error, then moved to second via a pass ball. Refusing to be rattled, the Minnesota native set down the next 16 Villanova hitters in order.
Carrying a no-hitter into the sixth, Tapani faced his toughest frame of the contest. After getting the first out on a grounder to short, Tapani hit Pat O'Neil to give the Wildcats two runners for the first time. After a tapper to first moved both Wildcats up 90 feet, Tapani issued his lone walk of the game to load the bases. Facing Villanova's best hitter, Ryan Toohers, Tapani forced the first basemen to swing threw a 3-2 breaking ball.
The win moved Tapani to 9-1 on the season, as he notched 12 strikeouts in the victory.
Ragan Follows Suit With Another Complete Game and Another Dozen Strikeouts
Following senior Ryan Tapani's complete game shutout on May 11, junior Mitch Ragan limited the Wildcats to one run in nine innings with an impressive 12 strikeouts to earn the win (5-4) on May 12.
This marks the first time under head coach Ed Servais that Creighton has seen pitchers deliver consecutive nine-inning complete game performances.
Ragan was on from the start, striking out the first three Wildcat hitters and ringing up six in the opening three frames.
Back on the bump in the fifth, Ragan saw Villanova load the bases on a single, an error, a sacrifice and a walk. The right-hander worked out of the jam with a sacrifice fly to left and a grounder to yield just one run.
Creighton's offense added an insurance run in the sixth and two more in the ninth, but it wasn't needed as Ragan did not allowed a base runner the rest of the way.
Evans Could Become First Bluejay in at Least 30 Years to Record Three Wins Against One Team in a Single Season
At 3-1 during the 2018 season, freshman Ian Evans has already collected two of his three wins over UNO this season. He earned his second win of the year with four innigns of relief on April 17, then collected another win on May 9 with a four-inning start.
Though not schedueld to start, if Evans picks up the win against the Mavericks on Tuesday, he'd become the first Bluejay in at least the last 30 years to win three games against a single opponent in one year.
Senior Preston Church also had the chance to do so as Church notched victories in each of the Bluejays' first two wins over Nebraska. The graduate transfer, however, did not pitch in Creighton's third win over the Huskers on May 8.
