Last Time Out: Bluejays Completes Double-Digit Comeback with 66-62 Overtime Win
Down 54-49 with 1:22 remaining in the fourth quarter the Creighton women's basketball team delivered a 12-0 run to grab a 61-54 lead with 1:56 left in the extra session as the Bluejays bested Xavier 66-62 in overtime on Friday, Jan. 18.
With the game on the line it was freshman Payton Brotzki that answered the challenge, knocking down an open trey from the right wing to get the Bluejays within two at 54-52. Creighton came up with a defensive stop on the ensuing Musketeers position, but a turnover gave the ball back to Xavier. Using their three fouls to give, the clock drifted down to 23 seconds. On Xavier's fourth play inbound play from the edge, sophomore Tatum Rembao grabbed the steal. Following Creighton's final timeout, senior Audrey Faber elevated for the game tying shot and was fouled. The Iowa native calmly sank both from the charity stripe to force an extra session.
The additional frame saw the Bluejays go to Faber for the lead on the opening position, then the game turned as Faber found fellow senior Jade Owens for a three-pointer from the left corner. Moments later Brotzki found junior Jaylyn Agnew for a wide open layup as she cut to the rim to put Creighton up 61-54. In the final minute of overtime Xavier got within three on two separate occasions, but the Bluejays hit 3-of-4 free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Faber's Clutch Gene on Display Once More Against Xavier
Senior Audrey Faber's two clutch free with five seconds left against Xavier forced overtime on Jan. 18, but it was far from the first time she delivered in the final seconds for the Bluejays. Three times last season Faber delivered a victory or extended a game that Creighton went on to win.

Through 18 games Creighton's constant struggle in 2018-19 has been the rotating bodies available for practice or games. Six members of the Bluejays' 13 woman roster have missed at least one game due to an injury. Combined the six Creighton players have been ruled out of 31 contests.
