Women's Soccer Faces Off With Butler in Annual Pink Game on Thursday Night

Omaha, Neb. -- Back home after a pair of BIG EAST road matches last weekend, the Creighton women's soccer team hosts Butler on Thursday night at Morrison Stadium in the Bluejays' annual Pink Game to support Breast Cancer Awareness.

Scouting Creighton (7-4-1, 1-1-1 BE)
The Bluejays return home, where they have had much success this season. Creighton is 6-1-0 in Morrison Stadium this season, while scoring 15 goals. Eight of those 15 goals have come from the foot of freshman Skylar Heinrich.
Heinrich delivered her team-high ninth goal of the season in a loss at Xavier, while
sophomore Ansley Atkinson collected her first goal of the season in the Bluejays 1-1 draw at Marquette.
Bluejay netminder Katie Sullivan has guided the Creighton defense to 6-2-1, while posting three shutouts and a 1.00 GAA in nine matches in net. Sullivan has collected 42 saves, while allowing just nine goals.
Scouting Butler (6-4-2, 1-1-1 BE)
After starting the year 4-1-0, Butler ran into trouble posting just two victories over their last seven contests to bring a 6-4-2 record to Omaha. Butler opened BIG EAST play with a 3-0 win over Seton Hall, before dropping a 1-2 decision to DePaul and earning a draw with Villanova (1-1). Â
Offensively the Bulldogs are led by sophomores Katie Soderstrom and Anja Savich. Soderstrom has collected five goals and seven assists, while Savich has scored a team-high seven goals, converting on the teams only two penalty kicks this season. Â
Stephan Rodriguez has played all 1,125 minutes in net for Butler this season, posting four shutouts while collecting 37 saves and allowing just 13 goals.
Heinrich Among the Best in the Nation
Heinrich ranks near the top of three categories nationally with plenty of soccer yet to play. Skylar currently sits in a tie for 19th with nine goals, tied for 33rd with 20 points and tied for 24th with a 0.75 goals per game average. Heinrich is just two goals and six points shy of earning a spot in the top-ten.
Bluejays Have Equaled Best BIG EAST Start After Three Matches
Entering their fourth BIG EAST match of 2019 against Butler on Thursday, Creighton is 1-1-1 in three conference battles. That mark equals the Bluejays' best three-match start since joining the BIG EAST in 2013.
