Evansville, Ind. -- The Creighton offense remained cold for the second consecutive day as the Bluejays fell to Evansville, 11-0, on Saturday, March 16.
The loss dropped the Bluejays to 7-5 on the season, while Evansville climbed to 9-6 overall.
Evansville took a 1-0 lead in the opening frame, scoring on a walk, a sacrifice and and RBI single from A.J. Fritz.
The bulk of the Aces damage came in the fifth as Evansville pushed across four runs on a pair of singles, four walks and a hit batter. All of Evansville's scoring in the fifth came after two men were retired. The big blow of the frame was a two-run single from Nate Reeder.
Evansville added a trio of runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to push the contest to 11-0.
Creighton starter Denson Hull took the loss (0-2), allowing four runs on four hits and four walks in 4.1 innings of work. Evansville's Nathan Croner earned the win (4-1) with seven innings of scoreless ball, limited the Bluejays to six hits and one walk.
Juniors Isaac Collins and Jake Holton led Creighton with two hits each in the loss.
Creighton and Evansville wrap up the three-game set on Sunday, March 17, with first pitch set for 1:00 pm (CT).
