Women's Soccer Closes Out Exhibition Season with 1-0 Win Over South Dakota

Omaha, Neb. -- A goal in the opening period was all the offense the Bluejays needed as the Creighton women's soccer team closed it's exhibition season with a pair of victories. The Bluejays followed it's 2-0 win over Drake on Aug. 14 with a 1-0 win over South Dakota on Saturday, Aug. 17.
Senior Taryn Jakubowski delivered the Bluejays goal in the 30th minute of play, following a header from freshman Lea Hoiness for a goal from seven feet away. Junior Juelle Love also collected an assist on the play, as she sent the ball to Hoiness for the first shot of the series.
Creighton out shot South Dakota 21-6 in the match.
The two teams agreed prior to play beginning to play two 45-minute periods, followed by a 20-minute session in an effort to allow each squad to get some extra time on the pitch.
Creighton opens the regular season on Friday, Aug. 23 as the Bluejays host Kansas State at 7:00 pm.
