Women's Golf Finishes Eighth at MVC Preview

Gabby Tremblay and Katie Allen tie for 11th place
BURLINGTON, Iowa -- Freshman Gabby Tremblay and sophomore Katie Allen tied for 11th place to help the Creighton women's golf team tie for eighth place at the MVC Preview, which concluded on Tuesday.
Tremblay's 11th-place finish came in the third tournament of the freshman's young career. She shot rounds of 79 and 77 on Monday before closing with an 80 for a 236 aggregate.
Also shooting a 236 total was reigning BIG EAST Golfer of the Week Katie Allen. The Bluejay sophomore opened with a 78 before closing out the event with consecutive 79's. It's the Phoenix native's fourth straight finish in the top-11 dating to the spring.
Sophomore Amelia Lee was CU's third-best finisher, tying for 50th place with a 248 total. She opened with rounds of 83 and 78 before closing with an 87.
Junior Margaret Hickey improved each 18 holes after an opening 86. She followed that up with circuits of 83 and 81 for a 250 total to tie for 57th place.
Rounding out the Bluejay line-up was Katie Wilson. The sophomore turned in three straight loops of 85 for a 255 total, good for a tie for 69th place.
Tournament host Northern Iowa won the 15-team tournament by eight shots over MVC rivals Missouri State and Drake with a 942 total, 25 shots better than Creighton. The Panthers featured co-medalists Hannah Bermel (73-79-77) and Emily Snelling (75-78-76), who topped the 96-person field. The competition took place at Spirit Hollow Golf Course, which measured 6,256 yards on the par-72 layout.
The Bluejays wrap up their fall season on Oct. 7-8 when it hosts the Creighton Classic at Oak Hills Country Club in Omaha.
