Women's Tennis Finishes Long Weekend With 5-2 Win Over Missouri State

Bluejays opened season with 2-1 showing after three matches in three days
The Bluejays improved to 2-1, while the Bears moved to 1-1.
Creighton opened its season on Friday with a loss at Iowa State before claiming consecutive home victories against North Dakota (Saturday) and Missouri State.
The Bluejays started Sunday's action with doubles victories at the top two positions. Kate Krueger and Sarah Wilcox teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 1, while Emma Gener and Gabby O'Connor sealed the first point of the morning with a tight 6-4 decision in the No. 2 doubles match.
Wilcox and Gener earned straight-sets singles victories to extend Creighton's edge to 3-0.
Missouri State closed the gap to two with a win at the No. 6 position, but Krueger earned a close win at the top slot to clinch the dual. The Omaha native won 7-6 in the first set, including 7-5 in the tiebreaker, before winning 7-5 in the second set.
O'Connor also earned a singles victory for the Bluejays with a straight-sets decision (7-6 (2), 6-4) at No. 5.
"This was a good win over a strong Missouri State team that fights hard," head coach Tom Lilly said. "To go 2-1 with three consecutive matches was tough, and I'm proud of our girls for a great physical and mental effort this weekend."
Creighton returns to the courts for a neutral site match against Air Force in Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday at 6 p.m.
