Women's Tennis Signs Malvika Shukla

OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton women's tennis head coach Tom Lilly announced the signing of Malvika Shukla, who will join the program beginning in the fall of 2020.

Shukla is a native of Mumbai, India, and has been ranked among the top-50 players in the women's division in her home country. She recently owned a UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) of 9.42.

"Creighton was the best university for me because it provides me with the perfect balance between playing tennis in one of the most competitive D1 conferences, challenges me to put in my best effort on the academic front, and gives me the opportunity to grow and find what truly makes me happy," said Shukla. "I'm very excited and can't wait to work with coaches Tom and Jean and the tennis team at Creighton."

Her future head coach, Tom Lilly, is excited about the addition of Shukla. "I have gotten to know Malvika only through phone calls, video chats, texting and speaking with those close to her, and I believe we are getting a great person to join our tennis family. She is a tremendous student that has also had a lot of success on the tennis court. Jean and I can't wait to meet in her in person and work with her the next four years."

Shukla joins Alexandra Centra, who signed in November, as additions for the 2020-21 Bluejay roster.
