Two Bluejays finish in the top-10
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Top-10 finishes by Gabby Tremblay and Katie Allen helped the Creighton women's golf team to a second-place finish at the MSU Spring Invitational on Tuesday.
Creighton battled wet and windy conditions on Monday to shoot rounds of 327 and 323 before making huge strides in Tuesday's finale with a round of 312 that was the program's best since October of 2019.
Freshman Gabby Tremblay had the best finish of her career as she placed fifth with rounds of 78, 77 and 82 for a 237 total to lead the Bluejays. Katie Allen was one spot behind in sixth place after circuits of 85, 80 and 74 and a 239 aggregate. It was the sophomore's sixth career top-10 finish.
Tying for 17th place were freshmen Katie Berrian (86-81-79) and Claire Orcutt (82-87-77). Both women finished with a 246. Junior Margaret Hickey was 25th after an 82 preceded consecutive 85's, and classmate Amelia Lee concluded CU's line-up with scores of 88, 92 and 87 to place 34th.
Missouri State won the team title by 28 shots with a 934 total, and Drake's Haeri Lee brought home medalist honors for the third time in her career with a three-round total of 228 (75-78-75) to win by one shot over Missouri State's Faith Hopkins. The tournament featured six teams and 40 competitors on the Highland Springs Country Club course, which was a par 72 layout that measured 6,074 yards.
