Women's Golf Takes Ninth at Diane Daugherty Invite

Katie Allen and Claire Orcutt lead the way
KIRKWOOD, Mo. -- The Creighton women's golf team placed ninth of 16 teams at the Diane Daugherty Invite, which wrapped up on Tuesday in Kirkwood, Mo.
After entering the week with one round all season of 322 or better, Creighton's 949 team score included loops of 313, 322 and 312. Arkansas State won the tournament with a 914 total, two shots better than South Dakota.
Katie Allen (81-78-76) and Claire Orcutt (75-80-80) led the Bluejay contingent with 235 totals to tie for 23rd place. Orcutt's 75 in the first round was two shots better than her previous best at the collegiate level.
Placing 26th with a 236 total was Gabby Tremblay (82-79-75). Her final round 75 was the freshman's best score of the spring.
Margaret Hickey placed 60th with a 246 total. She secured rounds of 80, 85 and 81. The first and third rounds were her best two loops of the spring, and the junior has now shot between 80-86 in each of her last 12 rounds dating to the spring of 2020.
Rounding out the Bluejay line-up was freshman Katie Berrian in a tie for 72nd place. Berrian's first round 79 tied the best round of her spring, and she complemented that with subsequent rounds of 88 and 84 for a 251 total.
Playing as an individual and not factoring into the Bluejay team score was Katie Wilson, who placed 86th with a 264 (87-85-92) total.
The tournament was contested at Greenbriar Hills Country Club, a 6,042 yard course that played to a par of 71. Sixteen teams and 90 golfers competed in the event, which was won by Bradley's Taylor Ledwein. Ledwein fired an opening-round 67 and a 54-hole aggregate of 221, which helped her hold off South Dakota teammates Danica Badura and Akari Hayashi by one shot each.
Creighton returns to the course on April 12-13 at The Stampede At The Creek in Elkhorn, Neb.
