Shayna Dahlen and Megan Miklesh will join the Bluejays in the fall of 2021
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton softball head coach Brent Vigness announced the addition of a pair of transfers -- catcher Shayna Dahlen and infielder/utilty Megan Miklesh -- for the upcoming season. Dahlen heads to Omaha after spending four seasons at Idaho State and will have one year of eligibility, while Miklesh joins the program after playing in 2020 and 2021 at Madison College and has three seasons remaining.Â
Dahlen played in 133 games at catcher, including 123 starts from 2017-20 at Idaho State. The Orange, California native recorded 59 hits, including 20 doubles and two home runs, and tallied 30 RBIs over the course of four seasons. Dahlen most recently hit .238 during 17 games with three doubles and four RBIs during the shortened 2020 campaign. She also threw out a total of 18 runners attempting to steal during her career as a Bengal.Â
Miklesh heads to Omaha after helping Madison College to the 2021 NJCAA Division II Softball Championship, as the WolfPack secured their third consecutive Region 4 title and ended the season with a 39-9 record. Miklesh made 37 starts at third base and hit .327 with 36 hits and scored 27 runs this past season. She also ranked fifth on the team with 34 RBIs and collected 18 extra-base hits (nine doubles, five triples, four home runs). Defensively, Miklesh ranked third on the team with 43 assists.
The Plover, Wisconsin native played seven games in 2020 before the season ended because of the COVID-19 pandemic. She also spent the fall of 2019 with the Wisconsin-Green Bay softball program before transferring to Madison College. Miklesh's older sister Ally plays softball at Wisconsin.
Dahlen and Miklesh join incoming freshmen Alyssa Bostley, Sydra Seville and Alexis Wiggins as Bluejay newcomers for the upcoming season. The Creighton softball program will head back to the diamond in the fall following a 14-14 showing in the spring of 2021, including a fourth-place finish in the BIG EAST with an 8-7 record.
