Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton women's soccer team continues its five-match stretch against Summit League opponents on Sunday, September 5th as the Bluejays face off with South Dakota State at 3:00 pm.

Series History: Bluejays lead Jackrabbits, 12-2-1
Creighton and South Dakota State have met 15 times previously, with the Bluejays holding an 12-2-1 edge. The last time the two squads met was in 2019, a 1-0 Creighton victory in overtime at Morrison Stadium (August 29). The Bluejays are 6-2-1 against South Dakota State in Omaha.

Scouting South Dakota State (5-0-0)
The Jackrabbits are off to their best start in school history at 5-0-0. Adding to that high, South Dakota State is returning from Oahu, Hawaii. During the trip to the Islands, South Dakota State defeated Idaho State (6-0 on Aug. 27), Hawai'i (1-0 on Aug. 29) and Hawaii Pacific (4-0 on Sept. 1).
Maya Hansen leads the Jackrabbits with 12 points on five goals and three assists. Four members of the roster have scored at least two goals, while five more have tallied one. The assist leader for South Dakota State is Avery Murdzek with four assists.
South Dakota State has split time in goal this season with Taylor Lock allowing one goal in 270 minutes, while Jocelyn Tanner allowed one goal in 180 minutes.
Scouting Creighton (3-1-1)
The Bluejay offense created a seemingly endless amount of scoring chances on Thursday night, blasting away with 29 shots. Finishing, however, eluded Creighton as the Bluejays settled for the 0-0 draw with South Dakota. Over five contests Creighton has out shot its opponents 110-34 and holds a 30-16 edge on corners.
Defensively Keelan Terrell posted her fourth career shutout and second consecutive against South Dakota. Terrell has notched 11 saves and is second in the BIG EAST with a 0.37 goals against average on the season.
Offensively the Bluejays are getting contributions from multiple sources. Sophomore Jordy Rothwell delivered a pair of goals on corners in the win at Oral Roberts, while junior Ansley Atkinson server three assists.
Both Atkinson and Rothwell are tied with freshman Abigail Santana with four points to lead Creighton, but three other Bluejays have at least two with goals from junior Cristina Garriga as well as freshmen Alyssa Judkins and Hailey Rothwell.
Creighton Defense Posts a Shot Goose Egg Against South Dakota
One of the most impressive portions of the 0-0 draw with South Dakota on September 2nd was holding the Coyotes without a shot. It has been almost 18 years since a Bluejay squad posted a goose egg in the shot column. The last time Creighton put a zero in the shot column was on Oct. 17, 2003 against Evansville in a 4-0 win.
Terrell Enters Battle with South Dakota State Looking for Third Straight Shutout
Creighton starting goalkeeper Keelan Terrell comes into Sunday's contest with a pair of consecutive shutouts. She has lowered her GAA to 0.37 in 2021 riding a scoreless streak of 203:20.
Last season Creighton delivered consecutive shutouts over Marquette (March 21) and Xavier (March 25). In total the Bluejays posted a scoreless streak of 228:07, that scoreless streak was split between Terrell (138:07) and Mikayla Grocki (90:00). The last time a single Bluejay keeper delivered consecutive shutouts was on Oct. 6 and Oct. 9, 2016. That season McKenzie Meola posted a scoreless streak of 201:11 that included a 4-0 win over Seton Hall (Oct. 6) and a 2-0 win over St. John's (Oct. 9).
