Terrell Earns BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Senior netminder Keelan Terrell nabbed her second BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week honor on Oct. 3 following a pair of shutouts against Marquette (Sept. 29) and Providence (Oct. 2).Â
The Olathe, Kan. native registered her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season while collecting five save in 180 minutes in between the posts.Â
She smothered both shots on goal in the Bluejays 2-0 win over Marquette, before completing her fifth clean sheet of the season with three saves in the 2-0 victory over Providence.
With the pair of shutouts, Terrell now has 13 career shutouts which ranks seventh on Creighton's all-time career shutouts list.
Rothwell and Luke Earn Spot On BE Honor Roll
Senior Jordy Rothwell and sophomore Hannah Luke each earned a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Oct. 3 after guiding the Bluejays to a pair of wins over Marquette and Providence.
Rothwell headed in her first goal of the season off a corner kick during the 74th minutes against Marquette on Sept. 29. She also helped the Bluejays back line to a pair of shutouts, allowing just five total shots on goal during their 2-0 wins over Marquette and Providence.
Luke led the Bluejays offensive last week with a goal and an assist. She found Lara Kazandjian for the game-winning goal against Marquette on Sept. 29, before finding the back of the net for the second time this season in the shutout win over Providence on Oct. 2.
Back-to-Back Multiple Goal Wins and Shutouts
Creighton posted back-to-back shutouts over Marquette (Sept. 29) and Providence (Oct. 2) to improve to 2-2-0 in BIG EAST play. It was just the third time since joining the BIG EAST in 2013 that the Bluejays have recorded back-to-back shutout wins in BIG EAST play.Â
The last time it happened was during the 2020 Covid season when the Bluejays defeated Marquette, 3-0, and Xavier, 1-0, in consecutive matches. The only other time Creighton posted back-to-back shutouts was in 2016 when the Bluejays beat Seton Hall, 4-0, and St. John's, 2-0.Â
It was also the first time winning consecutive BIG EAST matches by multiple goals since defeating Seton Hall and St. John's in 2016.Â
Heading in the Right Direction
Senior Jordy Rothwell helped the Bluejays get back on the right track by heading in her first goal of the season against Marquette on Sept. 29.Â
The Wisconsin native secured the 2-0 win for the Bluejays by heading in a cross to the far post off a corner kick from fellow classmate Aida Kardovic.Â
It was her first goal since finding the back of the net twice in the Bluejays 3-0 shutout win at Oral Roberts last season.Â
Return to the BIG EAST Tournament Will Be Paved on the Road
To reach the Bluejays' goal of a return trip to the BIG EAST Tournament (top six teams), Creighton will need to find points on the road. The Bluejays did just that with a 2-0 shutout win at Marquette on Sept. 29 and a 2-1 win at Seton Hall on Oct. 13.
During the Bluejays' 10 seasons in the BIG EAST, Creighton has a combined road record of 10-28-8 in conference play. Last season, the Bluejays suffered five losses but battled a limited lineup with significant injuries to key players.Â

- Sophomore Azumi Manriki blasted her first goal as a Bluejay past the Fighting Hawks goalkeeper in the 39th minute to giving Creighton a 3-1 lead.Â
- Senior Juelle Love touched the back of the net for the first time in her Bluejay career just 41 seconds into Sept. 4th match against Tulsa. It was her first collegiate goal since scoring a goal in her college debut for Pittsburgh way back on Aug. 18, 2017.Â
- Sophomore Hannah Luke rounded out the scoring in Creighton's shutout win over Tulsa with the first goal of her Bluejay career in the 20th minute.Â
- Junior Peighton Steffen touched the back of the net for the first time as a Bluejay in the BIG EAST opener against Connecticut. Steffen lofted a shot into the back of the net off the hand of the Huskies goalkeeper from roughly 35-yards out.Â
Firing On All Cylinders
The Bluejays have posted a 6-1-1 record inside Morrison Stadium this season. In those eight matches, the Bluejays have outshot their opponents 140-53 while netting 15 goals in the process.Â
In all, the Bluejays are out shooting their opponents 230-136 this season, despite being outshot in four matches.Â
Creighton recorded a season-high 32 shots in their 4-1 win over North Dakota, out shooting the Fighting Hawks 32-3 in the match.Â
The Bluejays backline limited North Dakota to zero shots in the second half. The three shots allowed were the least amount of shots allowed in a match since the Bluejays did not allow South Dakota to take a shot in the match last season.Â
Â
Chasing History
Senior Ansley Atkinson enters her senior season sixth in Creighton history with 18 career assists. Atkinson needs three assists to move into the top-three and 13 to surpass Lulu Quigley (2000-03) for the most assists in program history.Â
Last season Atkinson was leading the country with nine assists, the fourth most in a single-season, through the first eight matches before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Her nine assists ranked third in the BIG EAST behind Georgetown's Maya Fernandez-Powell (12) and St. John's Jessica Garziano (10).
